Police arrest man suspected
of robbing hospital employees

Sharon police said they have arrested a man accused of robbing two Sharon Regional Health System employees last week.

Arthur C. Pate III, 34, of 505 Pennsylvania Ave., Farrell, was arrested at 2:58 p.m. Monday at the Shenango Valley Regional Lock-Up in Farrell on a warrant for robbery, police said.

Pate was arraigned before District Justice James E. McMahon in Sharon and taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $10,000 bond, police said. Pate also had a parole detainer, police said.

At 7:45 a.m. Dec. 17, Pate approached a woman in the 700 block of East State Street, near the token parking lot, told her he had a .22-caliber gun in his pocket and demanded money, police said. Police said they do not believe he had a gun at the time.

Pate later approached a second woman, grabbed her purse and ran away, police said. The purse, missing a small amount of cash, was later recovered, police said.
