Council holds tax rate,
plans to up sewer fees

Farrell council has passed, on second reading, a series of ordinances setting budgets for 2003.

At the top of the list Is the general fund budget of $2,085,173. The budget is supported by the same tax rate as this year, 22.67 mills.

A mill is $1 for every $1,000 in assessed property value; assessments are a property's 1970 market value.

The sewer fund budget of $734,108 is supported by a fee hike, but council has not yet raised fees. An ordinance could be ready for action in January, officials have said.

Monday, council also approved:

   » Employee salaries and wages.

   » Revolving loan fund budget of $248,000.

   » Capital fund budget of $78,238.

   » Liquid fuels fund budget of $142,000.
