Groups work to revitalize downtown

Grove City Revitalization, Inc., and Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce are working together to revitalize downtown Grove City.

The organizations have cited two components to increasing the business activity in Grove City's Broad and Center street areas -- physical improvement and business development.

As a non-profit organization, Grove City Revitalization, Inc., is focused on improving the physical infrastructure of downtown Grove City. The Chamber of Commerce will manage business development, for the benefit of existing businesses.

"We recognize there is a need for both of these activities to take place in order to revitalize the downtown," said Dr. David M. Dayton, chairman of Grove City Revitalization, Inc., a non-profit corporation formed in 2001.

The first business development activity, sponsored by the chamber, is a four-part speaker series, already under way, devoted to small business marketing topics, called "If You Market, They Will Come."

Monthly through March, speakers will address topics such as the basics of marketing, getting free advertising and how to do business planning. The goal is to improve the performance of existing businesses.
