Girl hurt in crash still critical but stable

A 7-year-old McKees Rocks girl remained in critical, but stable condition Wednesday night at UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh after a Dec. 21 crash in Findley Township.

Adeline Ventura was hurt when the car in which she was riding drifted into the westbound lane of Scrubgrass Road and collided head-on with another car, state police said.

Adeline; Miranda Ventura, 9, of Pittsburgh; and Sarah Vennell, 4, of McKees Rocks, were passengers in a car driven by Miriam J. Ventura, 51, of Pittsburgh.

None of the children was wearing a seat belt, police said. After the crash, Adeline was flown to Children's, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit.

The other two children were treated at United Community Hospital, Pine Township, police said.

Also treated at UCH were two passengers in the other car, driven by Thomas R. Eddy, 29, of Boyers, police said.

Eddy has been discharged from Allegheny General Hospital.

He was flown to the Pittsburgh hospital after the ambulance taking him to UCH collided with a pickup truck.

Two ambulance service employees were treated at UCH after that crash, police said.
