Mobile home declared total loss after fire

Herald Staff Writers

A Friday afternoon fire that started in the back bedroom of a mobile home has left a Lackawannock Township family homeless.

The trailer, owned by Tom and Ronnette Glaister, was at 6810 Frogtown Road.

The Glaisters have two boys, ages 16 and 10. A pet cat was in the trailer and had not been found Friday.

The fire was spotted by 4-year-old neighbor Brittany Hess. She saw smoke out of her window, said Jeannette Dixon, the child's aunt, and told her mother.

Ms. Dixon is Mrs. Glaister's sister.

Ms. Dixon said no one was home when the fire started at about 2 p.m. Her sister and brother-in-law had left to run errands shortly before the fire broke out.

"She drove like crazy to get back when she heard," Ms. Dixon said.

The mobile home was a total loss, according to Hermitage Fire Chief Robert S. Goeltz. He said the fire was accidental but still under investigation. The trailer was insured, Goeltz said.

Ms. Dixon said no plans had been made as to where the family would stay. Goeltz said they were getting help from the American Red Cross.

The 16-year-old boy wears pants with waist size 32 and regular length inseam, and shirt size large or extra large. The 10-year-old wears pants size 16 husky and shirt size 16-18.

Hermitage, West Middlesex and Shenango Township fire departments responded.
