Reznor lays off 16 as part of corporate restructuring
Reznor laid off 16 workers at its Mercer plant as part of an overall corporate restructuring.
The layoffs were announced before the end of the year, said Tricia Bergeron, a spokeswoman for Thomas & Betts Corp., the Memphis, Tenn.-based company that owns Reznor.
About half of those laid off were salaried workers, and the remainder were technical employees, Ms. Bergeron said.
Reznor produces products used in the commercial and industrial sectors, which have been hurt in a sluggish economy.
Ms. Bergeron said she was unaware of further cuts planned for the Mercer plant, which employs about 330.
Founded in 1888, Reznor is among Mercer County's oldest manufacturers. Producing heaters and other air equipment for commercial and industrial uses, the products are marketed under the Reznor brand name.
