Three Sharon men were arrested after they attacked and injured a Sharon policeman, police said.

The incident began at about 5 p.m. Tuesday when police were called to a fight in the 200 block of Oak Way.

Police gave the following account:

Cpl. James Masotto arrived and found a large group of people yelling and screaming.

Billy Taylor, 28, of 418 Andrew St., was swearing and yelling and wouldn't stop. When Masotto tried to arrest Taylor, he began to swing at Masotto.

Chester Taylor, 59, also of 418 Andrew St., and Joey Arbuckle, 35, of 1580 Parke Drive, Hermitage, jumped on Masotto from behind and knocked him to the ground. The men kicked Masotto.

Masotto managed to get up and fend the trio off. Billy Taylor ran and Masotto chased him into his home on Andrew Street.

Masotto arrested Billy Taylor and when he came out of the house, Chester Taylor and Arbuckle where there and assaulted Masotto again.

Another Sharon policeman and Brookfield police arrived to help Masotto.

Masotto was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System for a shoulder injury, police said.

Billy Taylor was charged with flight to avoid apprehension, aggravated assault, escape, resisting arrest and criminal conspiracy.

Chester Taylor was charged with aggravated assault, hindering apprehension and criminal conspiracy.

Arbuckle was charged with aggravated assault, hindering apprehension and criminal conspiracy.

The three were arraigned before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon, and were taken to Mercer County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 for each man.
