The preliminary hearing for a Farrell man accused of shooting Daniel Dragicevic, 25, of Farrell, was continued for at least two weeks while he tries to find another lawyer to represent him.

"What am I supposed to do, man, I never seen that man in my life?" Chinello A. "C-Lo" Blaski, 22, of 525 Spearman Ave., said to public defender Daniel Davis Friday afternoon. Blaski looked around at Dragicevic in District Justice Henry J. Russo's court as he made that statement.

Dragicevic was allegedly shot in his home by Blaski on Sept. 26.

The Spearman Avenue resident faces charges of aggravated and simple assault, burglary, reckless endangerment, attempted robbery and a firearms violation, police said.

According to police, Blaski entered Dragicevic's home at 504 Beechwood Ave. at about 9:30 p.m. holding a chrome-plated pistol and demanded that Dragicevic take him to his safe.

Police said they have not determined how Blaski knew that Dragicevic had a safe, and added that Dragicevic said he did not know Blaski.

Dragicevic, who did not want to wake his girlfriend, led Blaski to the basement, police said. When Blaski saw that there wasn't a safe, he fired a single shot, hitting Dragicevic in the left thigh, police said.

Dragicevic, 25, was treated at UPMC Horizon, Farrell. A .25-caliber shell casing was found in the room, police said.

An informant later identified Blaski as a suspect, and Dragicevic identified Blaski as the shooter from a photo lineup, police said. Blaski was living at a halfway house in Sharon at the time of the shooting, police said.

He was on parole after serving a jail term for robbery in Erie, where he is from, police said.

Dragicevic had no comment Friday.

Blaski was returned to the State Regional Correctional Facility at Mercer, Findley Township, where he is being held on a parole detainer.

The hearing date will be set after Russo receives word from a new lawyer representing Blaski. Russo gave Blaski the two weeks he requested to find other counsel.

Blaski is also facing charges of receiving stolen property, being a convict in possession of a firearm and possession of crack cocaine in an unrelated case in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
