Timothy M. Bear '99 GHS grad was church member, Wal-Marts worker Timothy M. Bear, 49 College Ave., Fredonia, formerly of 240 Hamburg Road, Hempfield Township, died of natural causes on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2003, in his residence. He was 22. Mr. Bear was born Sept. 30, 1980, in Greenville to Martin L. Bear and Judy D. Speir Bear. A 1999 graduate of Greenville High School, he was employed for one year as a stocker at Wal-Mart in New Castle. Mr. Bear was previously employed as a telemarketer for MCI in Niles, Ohio; and worked for Wal-Mart of Greenville. He was a member of Christ Community Church, Delaware Township. He enjoyed working with computers and audio/visual equipment. Surviving are: his parents, Martin and Judy Bear; a sister, Julie A. Bear; his paternal grandparents, Lewis and Savilla Bear, all Greenville; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Jeannie Zahniser, Fredonia. BEAR Dana B. Capitol Jackson '80 Kennedy grad worked for care center, drug store YOUNGSTOWN -- A funeral service will be held Tuesday for Dana B. Capitol Jackson of 2220 Ash St. in Youngstown. She died on Tuesday (1-7-03) in her residence. She was 40. Mrs. Jackson was born July 18, 1962, in Sharon, a daughter of William H. Capitol and Melba Culp Capitol. She was a 1980 graduate of what was Kennedy Christian High School in Hermitage, and attended the Shenango campus of Pennsylvania State University in Sharon. She was employed as a nursing assistant at Boardman (Ohio) Community Care Center. She also served as assistant manager for Rite Aid drug store in Austintown, Ohio. Mrs. Jackson is survived by: two sons, Tuvern and Johnathan Jackson, both at home; three brothers, William H. Capitol and Dennis Rucker, both Sharon; and Zachary Rucker, Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Lanita Lowe, Sharon; a godson, Antwan Williams, Youngstown; two goddaughters, Jalisa Amos, Farrell; and Julissa Newell, Youngstown; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
JACKSON Edward 'Ted' Usko Wilkes-Barre native retired from Packard YOUNGSTOWN -- Edward "Ted" Usko of 4831 Westchester Drive, Apartment 212, Youngstown, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday (1-9-03) in Beeghley Oaks, Youngstown. He was 74. Mr. Usko was born June 6, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., a son of Theodor and Anna Kopec Usko. He was a 1946 graduate of Hanover High School in Wilkes-Barre, having played on their 1946 state championship football team. Ted retired in 1993 from Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, Ohio, as a senior millwright, after 31 years of service. His memberships included Local 717 of International Union of Electrical Workers; and Ombudsman of the District on Aging. He served as a past president of the Slovak Club in Warren and the Hartford Democrats. Survivors include: two daughters, Debbie Sudzina and her husband John, Youngstown; and Tina Lindsay and her husband Austin, Logan, Ohio; one brother, Leonard Yusko, New Paltz, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren, Brie Sudzina, Austin Lindsay and Edward Lindsay, twins Amy and Elise Lindsay, Joey Usko and Ronnie Swogger. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Debra Usko and Donna Michaels; and one son, Theodor Usko.

James Dale Boyd Sandy Lake retiree, WWII vet, worked at WE, Polk James Dale Boyd of 59 Creek Road in Sandy Lake died Friday morning (1-10-03) in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township. He was 85. Mr. Boyd was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Sandy Lake to George M. and Wealtha Dewey Boyd. He graduated from the former Sandy Lake High School and Bliss Electrical School of Tacoma Park, Md. Mr. Boyd was employed by Walker Chevrolet for four years; the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 22 years; and Polk Center for 18 years, retiring in 1982. He married Margaret Trevitt on Sept. 12, 1953. He served for three years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Following his discharge from the military, Mr. Boyd enjoyed flying his own piper cub airplane. He also enjoyed working in the woods. He was a member of Clarks Mills United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of Free and Accepted Masons Lake Lodge 434, Sandy Lake. He is survived by: his wife; a son, David L. Boyd and his wife Andrea, Stoneboro; two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Susan) Hutcheson and Karen L. Goodale, both Edinboro; and four grandchildren, Lindsay and Taylor Goodale; and Christy and Craig Hutcheson. Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Margaret Adams and Edyth Paxton. BOYD Valerio P. "LaVerne" Darcangelo WWII vet, National Castings retiree lived in Grove City Valerio P. "LaVerne" Darcangelo of Barkeyville Road in Grove City died Thursday morning (1-9-03) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township. He was 85. Mr. Darcangelo was born June 17, 1917, in Grove City to Antonio P. and Maria Bonnani Darcangelo. He retired from National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp. in Sharon. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Darcangelo served as a private first class during World War II. He was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple in Grove City. His wife, the former Mary Guarnieri, whom he married Oct. 12, 1940, died in 1999. Surviving are: a son, Richard Darcangelo, Sharon; a daughter, Frances Darcangelo, New Freedom, Pa.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Heginbotham and Rose Gibson, both Grove City. Besides his wife, Mr. Darcangelo was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leonard Darcangelo.
DARCANGELO Stephen Boor Stephen Boor, Whispering Oaks, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, formerly of Broadway Avenue, Masury, died at 8 a.m. Friday (1-10-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 92. Obituary information was incomplete.
BOOR Helen Thomas Moore Sharon native, volunteer belonged to groups, church MEDFORD, Oregon -- Helen Thomas Moore, Medford, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2003, in Medford. She was 93. Mrs. Moore was born May 9, 1909, in Sharon to William and Blanche Thomas, and was the wife of the late Harvey E. Moore, attorney. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Oberlin College in 1931. Mrs. Moore had been active in Sharon College Club; League of Women Voters; First Presbyterian Church in Sharon; and numerous volunteer organizations. Surviving are: two daughters, Elizabeth Stalbird, Bonanza, Ore.; and Dr. Margery Moore, Buena Park, Calif.; a son, Thomas E. Moore, Toronto, Canada; two sisters, Grace Myers, Prescott, Ariz.; and Betty Aubel, Jacksonville, Ore.; and one brother, Dr. William Thomas, Venice, Fla. She also leaves five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Bashline and Corrine Linder. Following her wishes, a cremation took place. A private service to celebrate her life will take place at a later date. Remembrances may be made to Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio 44074-1090; or to a charity of the donor's choice. Howard E. Cunningham Retired company foreman had brother in Grove City BEAVER -- Howard E. Cunningham, Blackhawk Road, Beaver, formerly of Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, died early Friday morning, Jan. 10, 2003, in Beaver Medical Center. He was 86. Mr. Cunningham was born March 13, 1916, in Plain Grove Township to William Cunningham and Elsie Moore Cunningham. He retired as a foreman from Hydril Co. in Rochester, Pa., where he worked for 39 years. After his tenure at Hydril Co., for 14 years he was a paper distributor to paper carriers for the Beaver County Times. Mr. Cunningham was a member of Rochester Turner's (social) Club; and Plain Grove Presbyterian Church. His wife, the former Rotha Lightner, survives at the residence. Also surviving are: a daughter, Inean Cunningham, Beaver; a son, William R. Cunningham, Canfield, Ohio; a brother, Gerald Cunningham, Grove City; two sisters, Bertha Lutz, Plain Grove; and Mary Bartoe, Vandergrift, Pa.; and two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Cunningham was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Cunningham.
CUNNINGHAM Frank G. Schreck Meadville man was self-employed farmer MEADVILLE -- Frank G. Schreck of Meadville died Thursday evening, Jan. 9, 2003, in Meadville Medical Center. He was 91. Mr. Schreck was born Nov. 8, 1911, in Meadville, a son of the late Frank J. and Anna Johnson Schreck. He was a self-employed farmer for most of his life and subsequently worked in production for 10 years at American Viscose in Meadville. He married Grace Gander on May 21, 1945. She preceded him in death April 10, 1997. Survivors include: two sons, Frank J. Schreck and his wife Ruth; and James Schreck and his wife Pam, all Meadville; two daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Galvin and her husband Gerald, St. Louis; and Mary Wineland and her husband Edgar, Meadville; and nine grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren and one nephew. In addition to his wife and his parents, Mr. Schreck was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Fye and Evelyn Robison.
