A Hermitage man who admitted burglarizing a Trumbull County home and leading police on a two-state chase will spend 1è years in an Ohio prison.

Matthew Henry, 22, of 545 Dutch Lane, was sentenced Friday by Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge M. Stuard to 1 year in prison on a charge of burglary, and 6 months on a charge of theft, with those jail terms to run consecutively, a court spokeswoman said

He also was sentenced to 1 year in jail for failing to comply with the order of a policeman, but that sentence will run concurrently with the others.

Henry, who pleaded guilty Sept. 12, will spend his jail time in the Lorain Correctional Facility.

Henry was charged with breaking into a Bradley-Brownlee Road home in Vernon Township on April 13, 2001, and stealing a television, tables, videocassette recorders, jewelry and other items, police said.

Joshua Yost, 21, formerly of Pulaski and Sharon, was lookout for Henry and helped load items into the rental car, police said.

A neighbor spotted the men coming out of the home and called police, police said.

A sheriff's deputy saw the car, which Henry was driving, and started the pursuit that eventually included police from several departments, police said.

The chase reached speeds in excess of 100 mph, and Henry's car side-swiped vehicles in Hermitage before smashing into two cars at Broadway and Mercer Avenue.

Two Youngstown people in a car that flipped over from the impact were treated at a local hospital.

Henry ran from the crashed car but was captured shortly afterward when a Hartford patrolman drew his gun and ordered him to stop, police said.

Yost stayed in the car until he was arrested, police said.

Henry needed money and came up with the idea for the burglary, police said.

Yost pleaded guilty in April to a charge of burglary and was sentenced in June to 2 years in Lorain Correctional Facility.

Both men also were prosecuted in Mercer County.

Henry pleaded guilty to a charge of receiving stolen property and was sentenced in October 2001 to a $400 fine and 36 months' probation.

Yost pleaded guilty to charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit receiving stolen property, and was sentenced last January to parole after a mental health evaluation for the remainder of 1 month to 12 months, and 18 months' probation.
