John H. Lopochonsky Sr. Decorated WWII veteran retired from Werner Co. John H. Lopochonsky Sr., 178 Conneaut Lake Road, Greenville, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 83. Mr. Lopochonsky was born June 11, 1919, in Four States, Pa., to Harry Lopochonsky and Pauline Herysinzak Lopochonsky. He attended Marion County schools in West Virginia and retired from Werner Co., Sugar Grove Township, where he was superintendent of stores with 34 years of service. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Lopochonsky served in the U.S. Army as a technical sergeant in the Pacific theater of operations with the 105th Infantry, Company K, having been a highly decorated veteran, receiving two Bronze Battle Stars and a Purple Heart for his actions in the Battle of Saipan on July 29, 1944. He also received the Asiatic-Pacific Service Ribbon and participated in the invasion of Marshall and Gilbert islands. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 140, both Greenville; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374, Hempfield Township; and was a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 145, also Greenville. His wife, Lillian E. Artman Lopochonsky, whom he married April 22, 1949, survives in Greenville. Also surviving are: one son, James E. Lopochonsky; and a grandson, Jamison E. Lopochonsky, both Greenville. Mr. Lopochonsky was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John H. Lopochonsky Jr., who was killed in action in Vietnam; and a brother, Michael Luper.
LOPOCHONSKY Francis M. Sherwood Sr. Francis M. Sherwood Sr., 371 Ohio St., Sharon, died on Monday (1-13-03) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 81. Obituary information was incomplete.
SHERWOOD Jennie A. Wolfe Hermitage homemaker had roadside produce stand Jennie A. Wolfe of 2185 Trout Island Road, Hermitage, passed away early Sunday morning (1-12-03) in her residence. She was 81. Mrs. Wolfe was born May 27, 1921, in Clark, a daughter of Joseph J. and Anna Misivich. A lifelong area resident, she graduated in 1940 from Hickory High School in Hermitage. Mrs. Wolfe was a homemaker and previously was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6404 in Sharpsville. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and fishing. For many years, Mrs. Wolfe and her husband, John, operated a produce and vegetable stand on North Hermitage Road, just north of Lamor Road in Hermitage. In her earlier years, she was a member of Sharpsville Police Auxiliary. Her husband, John Joseph Wolfe, whom she married Aug. 30, 1940, passed away Feb. 9, 1995. She leaves: two sons, John J. "Jack" Wolfe and his wife Sandy, Hermitage; and Lewis James "Jim" Wolfe and his wife Kitty, Greenville. She also leaves one sister, Helen Drivere, Hermitage; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Her husband; three brothers, John, Joseph and Vincent Misivich; three sisters, Marrianne Harris, Pearl Cugini and an infant sister, Mildred Misivich; and her grandson, Joey Wolfe, preceded her in death.
WOLFE Richard E. White Allegheny County company engineer was '75 HHS grad BEAVER, Pa. -- Richard E. White of Brighton Township, Beaver County, formerly of Hermitage, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, Jan, 11, 2003, in the Medical Center, Beaver. He was 45. Born Oct. 7, 1957, in Waynesburg, Pa., Mr. White was a son of Richard E. White Jr. and Ella Raye Gabeletto White, Hermitage. He had been a resident of Brighton Township since 1988. Mr. White was a senior project engineer for the past 16èyears with Eaton Cutler Hammer in Finley Township, Allegheny County. He was a 1975 graduate of Hickory High School in Hermitage and a 1997 graduate of Youngstown State University, where he graduated cum laude. Mr. White was a former softball and baseball coach and enjoyed bowling, golf and archery. Surviving besides his parents are: his wife, Sherry Lynn Lapcevich White, whom he married Sept. 23, 1978; a son, Jason Richard White; and a daughter, Jacquelyn Louise White, both at home; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Connie White, New Wilmington; Robert and Michelle White, Iowa; and Rodney and Maria White, Wisconsin; a sister and brother-in-law, Renee and Richard Trice, Moon Township, Allegheny County; his mother-in-law, Anita Lapcevich Dixon and her husband James Dixon, Hermitage; and a maternal grandfather, James Gabeletto, Masontown, Pa.; and a paternal grandmother, Arlowine "Peg" Olmstead White, Warren, Ohio. Mr. White will be sadly missed by his wife's family, his nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many close co-workers and friends. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandmother, Beatrice Taylor; his paternal grandfather, Richard E. White Sr.; and his father-in-law, Frank Lapcevich. WHITE Maria (Mary) Grande Falvo Californian formerly lived in Farrell, had family here ANAHEIM, Calif. -- A Catholic Mass was held in St. Irenaeus Church in Cypress, Calif., at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, to celebrate the life of Maria (Mary) Grande Falvo. She passed away at the age of 99 in West Anaheim Extended Care Nursing Home at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 7, 2003. Mary Grande Falvo was born Maria Lucia Grande on Sept. 8, 1903, to Michele Grande and Marcella Lorenzo Grande, in Walston, Pa. The family later moved to Farrell. Mary grew up and lived in Farrell and was known by many as the friendly young lady who worked in her family's grocery store. It was in that store that she met her future husband, John Falvo, of Sharpsville, who is now deceased. The couple married and had one daughter, Marcella. The Falvo family moved to California in the late 1940s. Mary Grande Falvo is survived by: her son-in-law, Thomas Denevan; six grandchildren, John, Annette, Mark, twins Michael and Michele, and Stephen. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren, Tom, Debbie, Kathleen, Timmy, Patrick, James and Tommy Denevan, Jennifer Kennedy and Ashley Ponce. Also among her survivors are four great-great-grandchildren, Clayton, Zachery, Caleb and Dylan Denevan; several sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Falvo Argenziano, Mission Viejo, Calif.; Helen Falvo Giordano, Boulder City, Nev.; and Jean Palazzo Falvo, Grove City; and a brother-in-law, Michael Falvo and his wife Madeline Faber Falvo, Boulder City, all of whom are formerly of the Shenango Valley. Aunt Mary is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews throughout the Shenango Valley, California and Las Vegas; as well as by her cousin, Lisa Lipton, Rochester, N.Y. Mary Grande Falvo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; her only child, Marcella Falvo Denevan; a granddaughter, Stephanie, twin of Stephen; and her brothers, George and Michael Grande; and sisters, Rose Grande, Virginia Grande Reda and Lucy Grande Mollo. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cypress, Calif. George Cook
