A former Mercer resident faces several criminal charges, including indecent exposure, after witnesses said he exposed himself in McDonald's in East Lackawannock Township.

James D. McManus, 46, of Youngstown is also accused by state police of disorderly conduct and harassment. Police said he exposed himself to several customers and a manager at the fast-food restaurant at Steingrabe Road and U.S. Route 19.

According to a police affidavit, McManus was previously caught several times engaged in other indecent behavior and following others into the store rest room.

McManus also harassed a female manager at the restaurant, repeatedly calling on the telephone and annoying her at work, the report said.

On Nov. 21, a female patron and her grandson alerted the restaurant's management when they noticed McManus standing in the lobby exposing himself, reports said.

He began calling the restaurant Nov. 26 asking to speak to the assistant manager and making lewd comments, reports said.

She advised him not to call back, but he continued to do so, police said.

State police interviewed him that day at his former Greenwood Estates home. He admitted calling the restaurant and going there, but denied exposing himself in the lobby, police said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 21 at District Justice Ruth French's office in Mercer.
