A Sharon man who allegedly ran over his ex-wife with a car will have his case heard in Mercer County Common Pleas Court, District Justice Henry J. Russo ruled Friday.

Joseph Jawann Boulware Sr., 30, of 100 First St., was charged Jan. 12 with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and driving while under suspension after he ran over Michelle Boulware after an argument, police said.

Police gave this account:

Boulware was giving his ex-wife a ride to her Hermitage home when they began to argue. Ms. Boulware jumped out of the car on a desolate stretch of Lynnwood Drive, west of Freedland Road.

Boulware tried to hit her with the car, missed, turned his car around, ran her over and drove away. A passerby saw her lying by the side of the road and notified authorities.

Ms. Boulware was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, for several broken bones.

Boulware was arrested later that evening at a Silver Street tavern.

Boulware is in Mercer County Jail after failing to post $25,000 bond.

Hermitage police said the incident was a violation of Boulware's probation. On Dec. 20 he pleaded guilty to simple assault for punching his ex-wife in the face a few weeks earlier. He was ordered to stay away from her, fined $200 and put on a year's probation, police said.
