Chorale will perform twice on Sunday
at St. Joseph and Notre Dame churches
On Sunday, Shenango Valley Chorale will sing two free concerts of sacred music by some of the world's greatest composers.
The 100-voice group performs at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, Sharon, and 7:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Church, Hermitage.
Edgar S. Groves directs the group, which will be accompanied by pianist Cynthia Brea Ward and the Shenango Valley Chorale Chamber Orchestra.
The chorale will perform "Hallelujah" from Beethoven's "The Mount of Olives," "Lacrymosa" from Mozart's Requiem, "The Heavens are Telling" from Haydn's "The Creation," and "He, Watching Over Israel" by Mendelssohn.
More recently composed works on the program are John Rutter's "The Lord is my Shepherd," Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu," "The Last Words of David," set to music by Randall Thompson, and Aaron Copland's "At the River."
A free-will offering will be taken during the concerts.
