Choir festival to draw from 13 churches

More than 200 singers will join in the Ecumenical Choir Festival set for 4 p.m. Feb. 23 in First Presbyterian Church, 600 E. State St. The public is invited.

Christian Associates of the Shenango Valley is host.

Thirteen church choirs will sing, with each doing two musical selections.

Choirs participating are as follows:

   » Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon -- William Brocklebank, director.

   » First United Methodist Church, Sharon -- J. Peter Bercowitz, director.

   » Pentecostal House of Prayer, Farrell -- Pastor Letitia Scott Banks, director.

   » St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Hermitage -- Mark Ostheimer, director.

   » Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage -- Gretchen Wagner, director.

   » Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage -- Cynthia Brea Ward, director.

   » Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon -- Penny Kraynak, director.

   » East Side Church (Baptist-Disciples of Christ), Sharon -- Rhoda Lyons, director.

   » First Presbyterian Church, Sharon -- Raymond Ocock, director.

   » St. Joseph Church, Sharon -- Nancy Rehner, director.

   » St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon -- Paula Kubik, director.

   » St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Sharon -- Paula Kudelko, director.

   » Living Word Church, Hermitage -- Pastor Carol Missik, director.

The committee arranging the program is composed of Brocklebank and Ocock, along with Lois Tamplin, Christian Associates' executive secretary, and Geri Williams, pastor of Ruth African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Sharon.
