Fire damages home while owners are away

A fire erupted at a two-story home in Jackson Township while the owners were away, a Jackson Center Volunteer Fire Department spokesperson said Sunday.

Firefighters responded at 1:45 a.m. Sunday to 201 Henderson Road after a passerby reported seeing flames there, firefighters said.

Firefighters speculated the case of the fire was electrical. The fire stared on the side of the home and flames shot from the outside down to the basement and up to the attic, they said.

No one was injured.

The home is owned by Dave Guthrie, who has insurance. No damage estimates were available Sunday.

Stoneboro and Mercer East End volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.
