House badly damaged in fire;
electrical problems blamed

Electrical problems in the kitchen were blamed for a fire that caused extensive damage to a house at 116 Cedar St., Sharpsville, on Monday.

The house is owned by William and Beverly Fustos. Mrs. Fustos was home at the time but got out safely, said Fire Chief Andy Totin.

A dollar estimate of the damage was unavailable, but Totin said smoke and flames did extensive damage throughout the house.

The Fustoses were in the process of changing insurance companies. Totin said he contacted the American Red Cross to assist the couple, who have family members they can stay with.

Firefighters, who got the call at 3:53 p.m., were on the scene for about two hours and 20 minutes, Totin said.

South Pymatuning Township, Hermitage and Patagonia firefighters assisted.
