Timothy Minner, an inmate of Mercer County Jail, was assaulted Jan. 31 by fellow inmate John Thompson, officials said.

Minner, 19, of 9 Franklin St. in Greenville, was arrested Aug. 9 by the Greenville-West Salem Township police and accused of sexually assaulting and raping a woman he knew, for more than two hours.

According to the monthly prison report Warden Jeffrey Gill gives the Mercer County Prison Board, Minner was treated at a local hospital for head injuries.

Gill said charges are being filed by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office against Thompson.

Minner is awaiting trial on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, burglary and simple assault. He was arraigned in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on Dec. 31.
