Longley family setting up foundation, trust

Ty Longley's family is establishing a foundation in honor of the guitarist and a trust fund for his unborn child.

The family also has blessed a foundation being formed in Los Angeles by his manager Paul Woolnough, of Knight Records.

Longley, a guitarist for Great White, was killed in the Feb. 20 nightclub fire in West Warwick, R.I.

Longley's father, Pat, who is executor of his son's estate, said the foundations are taking some time to put together because of legal steps that must be taken. Pat Longley said people are sending him checks and he would rather not accept them personally.

The local foundation is being established through the Shenango Valley Foundation, 41 Chestnut St., Sharon 16146, and memorial contributions may be sent there.

While Longley's girlfriend, Heidi Peralta of Plainfield, Ill., has established a fund through a bank to accept donations for their unborn child, Pat Longley noted the family does not control that fund.

Information on the Los Angeles foundation and plans for a compact disc of songs Longley played on is available at http://tylongleyfoundation.com.

A memorial service will be held for Longley at 2 p.m. today at Cornerhouse Christian Church, Hubbard Township, and a tribute will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Yankee Lake Ballroom.

The family asks that attendance at the memorial service be limited to family and close friends, while anyone can attend the tribute.
