Price won't be seeking public office

After months of speculation about his political future, retired Sharon Mayor Robert T. Price has decided to stay out of politics, at least this time around.

Price, who acknowledged he had been thinking about running for county commissioner or a spot on Sharon council, decided Tuesday afternoon to stay with what he's been doing for the last year: "I'm enjoying all of the time I'm getting to spend with my family. My health is good again and I feel 20 years younger. Those are two of the best reasons that I can think of not to run."

Price served as Sharon's mayor for 24 years before calling it quits in 2002.

"I miss my involvement with the public a great deal. That was the part of public life that I liked," Price added. "But right now, I'm enjoying my freedom and my health too much to give it up."
