19-year-old killed in 1-car crash Thursday afternoon

A 19-year-old Hubbard woman was killed in a one-car wreck Thursday in Shenango Township, police said.

Jennifer N. Snyder of 8118 E. Liberty St. was pronounced dead at 1:11 p.m. by Mercer County Deputy Coroner Cris Loutzenhiser of Greenville.

The car was southbound on state Route 18 and Ms. Snyder apparently lost control on the snow-covered road, said Police Chief Ronald Preston, who was called at 12:18 p.m.

The car slid sideways, hit a culvert and then a tree on the driver's side, police said. The car spun around the tree, police said.

Loutzenhiser said Ms. Snyder died of head trauma and internal injuries and ruled the death accidental.

He said there was no indication of alcohol or drug use and an autopsy will not be performed.

Preston said he had interviewed two people who saw the accident and is considering reconstructing it.

Shenango Township volunteer firefighters removed the woman from the wreckage. Southwest Mercer County Regional and state police also assisted.

Obituary information was unavailable.
