Case against Cattron closed

A Canadian company's lawsuit against Cattron-Theimeg Inc. of Sharpsville has been closed by a federal court in Pittsburgh.

Canac Inc. of Montreal sued in February 2002 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, alleging Cattron-Theimeg infringed two of its patents related to locomotive remote-control systems with speed control. Later that month Cattron-Theimeg countersued in U.S. District Court for Western Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh, denying Canac's claims.

In April the case was transferred to the federal court in Pittsburgh, which closed the case, meaning no further action will be taken unless one of the parties decides to revisit the allegations, said Fred Colen, an attorney for Cattron-Theimeg.
