Bank teller admits to stealing $25,600

A Sharon woman pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to a charge of misapplication of funds by a bank employee for stealing more than $25,000 from a local bank.

Jennifer Marie Turuck, also known as Jennifer Gregory, 26, of 705 Thornton Ave., Apartment 3, made the plea before U.S. District Judge Gary L. Lancaster, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan.

Ms. Turuck worked as a teller for First National Bank in 2001, the release said. Between Feb. 26, 2001, and Dec. 11, 2001, on about 50 occasions Ms. Turuck took money from her teller drawer for her own use and falsified her daily and weekly cash balancing records to conceal the takings, the release said. Ms. Turuck stole $25,600.

Ms. Turuck is scheduled to be sentenced at 2 p.m. June 13. She could face up to 30 years in prison and/or be fined up to $1 million, the release said.

The FBI conducted the investigation that led to the charge, the release said.
