Man hospitalized after 2 wrecks in 2 hours
A Mercer man suspected in a hit-and-run in Jefferson Township Saturday ended up in a Pittsburgh hospital when his car hit a tree less than two hours later in Coolspring Township, police said.
Ronald J. Seidel, 49, of 415 Line Road, was in serious condition at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Seidel was driving too fast for conditions and under the influence of alcohol when his car hit the tree off Old Fredonia Road, Coolspring, said police, who were called at 7:29 p.m.
Seidel was initially treated at United Community Hospital, police said, adding that he suffered head injuries.
At 5:45 p.m., Seidel was stopped at a stop sign on Golf Road at Route 58, Jefferson Township, and backed into a pickup driven by Christopher J. Roe, 21, of Fredonia, police said.
