Marine's
death
under
investigation

A Grove City man deployed in Kuwait with the Marines Corps was killed by a suspected, self-inflicted gunshot wound, the military said.

Marine Pfc. James Dillon Jr., 19, died Thursday. He was stationed in Kuwait in what the Marines describe as Living Support Area 7, said Maj. Michael Neumann, a Marine Corps spokesman. Dillon was assigned to the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion which is composed of light armored vehicles. No further information was available.

The death of any Marine is investigated to determine what happened, Neumann said. Dillon's family was informed of his death by a Marine casualty assistance officer, who visited the family, Neumann said.

"It's certainly a tragedy to lose any Marine, but to lose a Marine in these apparent circumstances is even more difficult,'' Neumann said. "Certainly the Marines in his unit share the pain of his family and friends back home.''
