Witness follows accused hit-and-run driver

Sharon police arrested a Hermitage man they say hit two vehicles with his van, one on purpose and one by accident.

Michael E. Brakeman, 32, of 1710 Pine Hollow Blvd., Lot 3, was driving on Strawbridge Avenue when he rammed his van into a parked car that belongs to a woman he knows, police said.

After ramming the car, Brakeman pulled his van onto East State Street where it hit an eastbound car, police said. Brakeman drove away, but a witness followed the van and called 911 on a mobile phone, police said.

Police caught up with Brakeman in the 1000 block of Leslie Street and Brakeman became aggressive and police said they struggled with him.

Two Sharon people in the car that was hit on State Street,

Ryan Martell, 19, of Sherman Avenue, and Nathan Horning, 18, of Glennwood Avenue, both of Sharon, were treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, police said, adding they were in the car that was hit on East State Street.

Brakeman was charged with drunken driving, driving with a license that was suspended for drunken-driving related offenses, causing an accident with injuries, hit and run, criminal mischief, reckless driving and causing an accident with injuries when not properly licensed, police said.
