they’re doing,” he said of the
two jobs.
Crombie, 43, and his wife
Missy have two young chil-
dren and said it’s nice to go
home at the end of the work
day and spend time with
him. In the funeral business,
there are always middle-of-
the-night calls and late
evenings that take you away
from family, he noted.
Now, “when the doors
close at five, I get to go
home at five,” Crombie said.
Crombie works in the
store daily and has two ladies
working for him who are a
huge help, he said. He often
makes deliveries himself.

Co-owner, Brentford House
Brentford House in Hub-
bard is a banquet and cater-
ing business owned and op-
erated by a Hubbard family.
Owners Jim and Mary El-
lis between them have more
than 50 years of experience.
One of the main objectives
of the business is to provide
quality food and service at a
reasonable price; all of our
food is homemade from
fresh ingredients. We make
our own meatballs and sauce
and homemade bread. Pas-
tries and
bake goods
are special-
ties of the
owner.
We can
accommodate 50 to 800
guests, although we will take
groups fewer than 50. We
cater weddings, organiza-
tions, school functions,
churches, showers, birthdays
and graduation parties and
offer off-premises catering.
We have space for craft or
trade shows and dances.
We have special events
throughout the year: Valen-
tine dinner dance, Easter
buffet, Mother’s Day,
Thanksgiving day buffet,
breakfast with Santa and a
New Year’s Eve party.
We offer menus for buf-
fets, brunches, luncheon and
sit-downs. We also offer spe-
cialty tables such as hors
d’oeuvres and ice carvings.
In addition, we also have a
complete bar. Stop in or call
to see what we have to offer.

Brentford House serves homemade meals
By Debbie Kavulla
Co-owner, The Bicycle Store
A sincere thank you to all
customers, employees, and
vendors who have helped us
complete 12 years in busi-
ness.
What teamwork. We be-
lieve our business has con-
tinued to be on the go for
three reasons:
First of all, our mission
stays the same: a commit-
ment to conduct our busi-
ness with honesty and in-
tegrity, glorifying our Lord,
while:
ä Providing quality prod-
ucts that assist in a healthy
lifestyle
ä Supplying all ages/skill
levels with bicycles and relat-
ed products
ä Serving in a timely,
friendly, and knowledgeable
manner
ä Charging a fair, compet-
itive price
Secondly, we enthusiasti-
cally and gratefully pedal into
our 13th year in business
with suppliers that are dedi-
cated to the quality we have
come to expect. Our main
supplier is Trek, whose in-
side and outside sales sup-
port goes unmatched, as
does the quality of its bicy-
cles and accessories.
Thirdly, bicycling is eco-
nomical transportation and
recreation. Given that the
average person who commits
to commuting by bicycle los-
es 13 pounds in their first
year, the personal health
benefits of cycling are obvi-
ous. Once the weather
breaks, riders also can create
a relatively inexpensive ped-
aling vacation.
We bet that you don’t
have to travel very far to find
an idyllic location where you
can wind down, relax, and
enjoy yourself. Hop on and
plan a staycation today. Go
by bike: For your health. For
fun. Less waste. Less waist.
The Bicycle Store fits into
the local community as the
area’s only full-service bicy-
cle shop. To overcome the
mass-merchant mentality, we
strive to provide personalized
attention to each person who
walks through the door.
In 2011, it was an honor to
be voted “The Best of the
Best” by The Herald readers
for the seventh consecutive
year.
With over 20 years of ex-
perience, Mike Kavulla or
one of the trusted employees
custom fit clientele to a mod-
el by budget, size and use.
The service department han-
dles everything from flat
tires and adjustments to
component replacements
and tune-ups. Mike, a Trek
Certified Mechanic and
Wheel Builder, offers free la-
bor estimates.
