Avalon Springs
Major renovations are com-
ing this year to 745 Greenville
Road, Mercer. Avalon Springs
Nursing Center has wel-
comed many improvements
to the appearance, functionali-
ty and programming in recent
months.
“We are energized with
the improvements that have
occurred and are excited
about future enhancements
we will be offering the Mer-
cer County community who
are in need of long term or
short term services,” said
John Hughes, chief operating
officer.
He noted that Avalon has
been actively working with
engineers and architects to
create a pre-
mium envi-
ronment for
r e s i d e n t s
and employ-
ees.
In addition, we are pleased
with the quality and quantity
of services that residents are
receiving from a broad range
of health care providers. The
best part of Avalon Springs is
the employees.
We have been able to re-
tain and attract some out-
standing and talented individ-
uals. They understand how
to interact with our residents
in a positive way.
Our prime objective is al-
ways to create the best quali-
ty of life experience for any-
one who comes to us. We
offer both semi-private and
private rooms, each room
with an abundance of natural
lighting.
Each resident is provided
plenty of individual space,
which maintains privacy and
allows for a favorite personal
item from home to accompa-
ny each resident.
We are situated on 40
acres along Route 58, about
2 miles from Mercer and
Munnel Run Farm. Avalon
Springs residents may tour
the farm at certain times of
the year in a specially de-
signed vehicle.
We provide comfortable ac-
commodations and a relaxed
environment to our residents,
whether living in the inde-
pendent apartments or in our
skilled care area. One of the
goals of Avalon Springs is to
promote health and well be-
ing of the body and mind.
We take great pride in our
rehabilitative services that is
delivered by licensed thera-
pists – speech, occupational
and physical – who are avail-
able to provide the necessary
instruction and treatments
that will maximize a resident’s
potential to return home.
Avalon Springs looks at
health care as a complete
continuum of care while fo-
cusing on every resident’s in-
dividual medical, emotional
and psychological need.
We are fortunate at Avalon
Springs to have excellent
physicians who have privi-
leges at area hospitals. The
physicians dictate the plan of
care and work closely with
nurses, therapists and other
skilled personnel to create an
individualized plan for each
resident. A registered nurse
coordinates a full assessment
of every resident upon ad-
mission and then periodically
through out their stay.
On-site podiatry, audiolo-
gy, optometry, x-ray and a
variety of lab services are all
available to our residents.
We provide transportation to
other specialists as ordered
by the physician.
Together, the nursing staff
and the physicians focus on
adding, adjusting or reducing
services by specialty, as
needed, with the goal of
achieving the best outcomes
for each individual.
Avalon Springs offers rou-
tine and skilled nursing serv-
ices that include advanced
on-site wound care, intra-
venous medications, feeding
tube care and tracheotomy
care. We assist with all ele-
ments of daily living includ-
ing meal service, laundry,
housekeeping and daily
