Today's obituaries Darryl L. Bartholomew Former Hadley man was press operator, welder Darryl L. Bartholomew, 1345 Lamont Ave., Meadville, formerly of Hadley, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday (6-11-00) at home following a lengthy illness. He was 42. Mr. Bartholomew was born Dec. 2, 1957, in Greenville to Byron L. and Bonita Riley Bartholomew. A 1975 alumnus of Commodore Perry High School, he was a press operator from 1978-98 at Werner Co., Sugar Grove Township, and later was a welder for Northeast Industries, Reynolds Industrial Park. Mr. Bartholomew was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Greenville, and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 276, Greenville. Surviving are: two sons, Brent and Bruce, both of Hermitage; his mother, Hadley; his former wife, Reneda Eakman, Hermitage, whom he married July 14, 1979; and a brother, Douglas, Meadville. BARTHOLOMEW Helen L. Belonax Sharpsville hairdresser cared for Santa wigs, volunteered Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday for Helen L. Belonax, 189 S. Mercer Ave., Sharpsville. She died at 7 a.m. Monday (6-12-00) in Shenango Inn Personal Care Residence, Sharon. She was 86. Miss Belonax was born Feb. 12, 1914, in Blacklick, Pa., to Michael and Susan Karabodgah Belonax. She retired in 1980 after 25 years as owner of Helen’s Beauty Shop, Sharpsville, and volunteered as a hairdresser at John XXIII Home, Hermitage. Miss Belonax was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Sharpsville; its Altar Rosary Society; and the church’s Good Samaritan Club. She also belonged to Catholic Daughters of the Americas.As a member of Sharpsville Service Club, Miss Belonax took care of the Santa wigs. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Al (Kathryn) Barovich, Sharpsville. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Louise Racketa, Caroline Strechanisky, Elsie Kepics and Anne; and two brothers, Steven and Joseph.
BELONAX Suzanne Brown Obituary was published 6-12-00 Suzanne Brown lived at 534 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage. The Herald was given an incorrect street address and published an incorrect city of residence.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by a son, Marsden "Butch" Clark; a sister, Virginia Royer; and three brothers, Robert, Steve and Marsden Cozad. The Herald omitted the information.
Frances Donaldson Frances Donaldson, 2999 E. Main St., West Middlesex, died at 2:55 a.m. today (6-13-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 77. Obituary information was incomplete.
DONALDSON Lee R. ‘Bud’ Frye Sharon man was General American retiree, Shriner Lee R. "Bud" Frye, 984 George St. Ext., Sharon, died at 4:25 p.m. Monday (6-12-00) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, following a three-month illness. He was 85. Mr. Frye was born May 8, 1915, in Sharon to Clarence E. and Ruby E. Bell Frye. A 1933 alumnus of Sharon High School, he retired in 1980 after 15 years from General American Transportation Corp.’s former Masury plant, where he worked in the maintenance department. Mr. Frye was a Protestant and a member of the former El Bika Grotto, Sharon; Free and Accepted Masons Lodge of the Craft 433, New Castle; Scottish Rite’s New Castle Consistory; and Zem Zem Shrine, Erie. His wife, the former Wauna A. McCandless, whom he married July 29, 1941, died March 1989. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Hansel (Kaye) Keffer, Masury; and Jeanne Frye Koch, Fort Mills, S.C.; two brothers, Harold E. and C. Edwin, both of Hermitage; a sister, Mrs. Graham (Margaret E.) Cook, Woodland Hills, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, James. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
FRYE Helen Mae Galloway Grove City woman was noted dietitian, teacher, traveler Helen Mae Galloway, Grove Manor, Grove City, formerly of Wesley, Pa., died at 2:05 p.m. Monday (6-12-00) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township. She was 80. Mrs. Galloway was born March 6, 1920, in Ackley, Pa., to Harry W. and Ruth Wiggins Randall. An alumna of Russell High School, Warren County, Pa., she attended Taylor University, Upland, Ind., and graduated in 1943 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Galloway retired in 1975 as head dietitian at Polk (Pa.) Center, where she worked since 1947, responsible for the preparation of 10,000 meals a day. She was instrumental in planning the 1958 Polk Center million-dollar kitchen renovation and expansion. During her tenure, Mrs. Galloway had several articles published in the American Journal of Mental Deficiencies and the Pennsylvania Dietetic Journal. She previously worked until 1947 as a home economics teacher at Jamestown High School. Mrs. Galloway served on Pennsylvania’s State Nutrition Committee and in 1971, was elected president of the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association. She belonged to the Clintonville Women’s Club; Irwin Grange and Pennsylvania State Grange; and Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City. Mrs. Galloway was a 1980 recipient of the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association Distinguished Service Award. She enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe and spent winters in Tucson, Ariz. Surviving are: her husband, Forrest Alvin Galloway, Grove City, whom she married June 17, 1950; and a sister, Edith L. Larson, Ackley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter C. Randall; and a sister, Jennett R. Robertson.
GALLOWAY Alberta M. Henderson Obituary was published 6-12-00 Among survivors are a sister, Mary Ellen Stewart, Grove City. The Herald was given an incorrect surname for Mrs. Stewart.
Margaret ‘Peggy’ M. Joyce Sharpsville native worked with MCAR, Red Cross Margaret "Peggy" M. Joyce, Grove City, formerly of 621 Leona St., Sharpsville, died at Monday afternoon (6-12-00) in Buchanan Commons, Grove City, of a cancerous brain tumor. She was 48. Miss Joyce was born April 2, 1952, in the hospital of what is now Sharon Regional Health System to William J. and Mary Ellen Miller Joyce. She had been a student at St. Joseph’s School, Sharon, and later attended General Equivalency Diploma classes. Miss Joyce performed assembly work at Mercer County Association for the Retarded, Hermitage, and was a volunteer for the Red Cross in Pittsburgh. While being hospitalized for epilepsy and mental illness that she suffered for several years, Miss Joyce participated in workshop programs at Warren (Pa.) State Hospital and Mayview State Hospital, Pittsburgh. She previously lived in Sharpsville, where she attended St. Bartholomew’s Church, sang in the church choir and participated in other activities. A prolific letter-writer, Miss Joyce composed beautiful messages for various occasions and inspired family members to pursue careers in the field of human service because of her lengthy struggle with mental illness. She was a recipient of various awards for swimming and painting. Miss Joyce donated her organs to Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center, an organization that conducts research into the cause of mental illness. Surviving are: her parents, 621 Leona St., Sharpsville; and four brothers, William, Oakland, Calif.; Peter, Sharpsville; John, Bridgeville, Pa.; and James, Emsworth, Pa.
JOYCE Alice M. Livermore Kloos Mercer homemaker was longtime church member Alice M. Livermore Kloos, 110 E. Venango St., Mercer, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday (6-12-00) at home following a brief illness. She was 99. Mrs. Kloos was born Jan. 4, 1901, in Coolspring Township to Elmer J. and Gertrude Custer Livermore. A homemaker, she was a dedicated community volunteer and belonged to the local Homemakers Club. As an 89-year member of Mercer United Methodist Church, Mrs. Kloos held various leadership positions in the Women’s Society, various other circles and taught Sunday school. Her husband, John Kloos, whom she married Oct. 15, 1924, died March 2, 1964. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Nancy) Shardy, Mercer; and Karen G. Burch, Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Glenn, Mercer; a sister, Mrs. Ray (Ruth) Thompson, Naples, Fla.; a brother, Walter Livermore, Mercer; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Carl; five brothers, Milton, Paul, Marvin, Merle and Elmer; and two sisters, Marie McKay and Beulah Johnston. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercer United Methodist Church, 250 E. Butler St.; or Mercer Area Library, 143 N. Pitt St., both Mercer 16137.
KLOOS Casimir ‘Casey’ S. Kuncio Farrell retiree was WWII Navy veteran, loved poker Casimir "Casey" S. Kuncio, 1013 Lisa Lane, Farrell, died at 6:05 p.m. Monday (6-12-00) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, following a lengthy illness. He was 73. Mr. Kuncio was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Farrell to Stephen and Josephine Gladysz Kuncio. The alumnus of Farrell High School retired in 1989 after 35 years from Sharon Steel Corp.’s former Farrell plant, where he was a ram driver. He was previously a self-employed house painter. A Navy veteran, Mr. Kuncio served as a seaman during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell. He also belonged to St. Adalbert’s Church, Farrell, and its Men’s Club. Mr. Kuncio loved to play poker. Surviving are: his wife, the former Stella Gorgacz, whom he married Oct. 13, 1955; two sons, Thomas F., Clark; and David P., Phoenix; a daughter, Mrs. John (Patricia) LaRocca, Clark; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Frank; and a sister, Stella Cataldi.
KUNCIO Margaret Oakes Margaret Oakes, Hermitage, died at 12:55 p.m. Monday (6-12-00) in Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage, following a lengthy illness. She was 85. Obituary information was incomplete.
