Today's obituaries Robert E. Armstrong Cooper Energy retiree was Harrisville church member Robert E. Armstrong, New Hope Road, Slippery Rock, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday (12-26-00) at home. He was 77. Mr. Armstrong was born Jan. 5, 1923, in Slippery Rock to Robert and Alda F. Christy Armstrong. He retired in 1986 after 44 years as an assembler for Cooper Energy Services Reciprocating Products. An Air Force veteran, Mr. Armstrong served during World War II. He was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Harrisville, and served as a past deacon at the former New Hope Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Butler County. Mr. Armstrong also belonged to Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 603, Grove City; and Scottish Rite's New Castle Consistory. Surviving are: his wife, the former Pauline I. Ritenour, whom he married June 28, 1950; a son, Kenneth R., Slippery Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Florence) Shearer, Butler; and Mrs. Dale (Frances) Fleeger, St. Marys, Pa.; three granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter. ARMSTRONG John S. Bailey John S. Bailey, 580 12th St., Reynolds, died at 9:47 a.m. Monday (12-25-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 49. Obituary information was incomplete.
BAILEY Humbert 'Junior' Campoli Jr. Ex-mill worker, craftsman owned janitorial service Humbert "Junior" Campoli Jr., 331 9th St., Sharpsville, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday (12-26-00) in the critical care unit of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness. He was 64. Mr. Campoli was born July 6, 1936, in Sharpsville to Humbert and Alice Fadell Campoli Sr. A 1954 alumnus of Sharpsville High School, he was a slitter for 28 years at the former Shenango Steel, Masury. Following the plant's closing, Mr. Campoli was owner and operator of his own janitorial business, servicing the Shenango Valley area. He was a past member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1637, Mercer. As a youth, he was active in Boy Scouts of America Troop 62 in the Shenango Valley. Mr. Campoli enjoyed making wood crafts and built model wooden buildings for many local businesses. Surviving are: his wife, the former Myrtle Taylor, whom he married in February 1960; a daughter, Mrs. David (Victoria) Slovan, Beaver Falls; two sons, Bryan K. and Patrick J., both Sharpsville; a sister, Mary L. Hall, West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Paul F., Sharpsville; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.
CAMPOLI William A. Colt Retired WE supervisor was Marine, St. Joe's member William A. Colt, 322 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning (12-26-00) in Chippenham Medical Center, Richmond, Va., after suffering heart failure while visiting family in the Richmond area. He was 75. Mr. Colt was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Sharpsville to Harry Christopher and Margaret Morse Colt. He attended Sacred Heart grade school in Sharon and was a alumnus of Sharon High School. Mr. Colt retired in 1985 after 39 years from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., for which he was a supervisor in its manufacturing department. A Marine Corps veteran, he served as a sergeant in the Philippines during World War II. Mr. Colt was a 40-year member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon; and belonged to the Fred Tonty Tuesday Afternoon Golf League at Hickory VFW Golf Course, Hermitage. Surviving are: his wife, the former Rosemary A. Friedrich, whom he married Oct. 15, 1949, at home; four daughters, Dr. Cathy Colt-Pomerantz, Chalfont, Pa.; Jude, Manomet, Mass.; Janet, at home; and Trish Chvala, Midlothian, Va.; two sons, William, McKean, Pa.; and Michael, Chesterfield, Va.; three sisters, Mary Ellen Ebert, Hermitage; Catherine "Snooky" Friedrich, Sharon; and Peg Holtzclaw, Zanesville, Ohio; a brother, Anthony E. "Ed," Hermitage; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janine; and three brothers, Edward "Spark," James and Daniel. COLT Samentha Elizabeth 'Pud' Edwards '89 Hubbard grad worked at Lordstown, owned business YOUNGSTOWN -- Samentha Elizabeth "Pud" Edwards, 6606 Ashlar Ave., Youngstown, died 9:05 a.m. Saturday (12-23-00) at home from complications of lupus. She was 31. Miss Edwards was born June 30, 1969, in Youngstown to Samuel and Meriam Taylor Edwards Jr. A lifelong area resident, she was a 1989 alumna of Hubbard High School, attended Ashland (Ohio) University and was a junior at Youngstown State University. Miss Edwards was a student teacher at Sheridan Elementary School, Youngstown; and was employed in the fabricating plant at General Motors Corp.'s Lordstown (Ohio) car assembly plant. A lover of arts and crafts, she also owned and operated Crafty Cousins Crafts. Miss Edwards was a member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Youngstown, and was secretary of the organization's Young Missionary Group. She also belonged to Local 1714 of United Auto Workers and was a cub mother for Boy Scouts of America. Surviving are: a son, Brandon M., at home; her mother, with whom she lived; three sisters, Charmaine Phillips, Hubbard; Marie, Cleveland; and Joy Wade, Akron; three brothers, Cohen Phillips, Sharpsville; and Michael and Daryl, both Cleveland; and her grandmothers, Maude Edwards, Akron; and Madeline Taylor, Coshocton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father.
EDWARDS Warren Clare Leventry Plumber was Scout leader, religion instructor, WWII vet Funeral will be Thursday for Warren Clare Leventry, Hempfield Township, formerly of 244 12th St., Reynolds. He died at 11:30 a.m. Monday (12-25-00) in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. He was 77. Mr. Leventry was born Nov. 24, 1923, in Johnstown, Pa., to Clare and Annabelle Horner Leventry. For more than 40 years, he was employed as a union plumber operating out of Sharon. He previously was a welder for 14 years at the former Greenville Steel Car Co. An Army veteran, Mr. Leventry served in the Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Lakeside Evangelical Congregational Church, Pymatuning Township; and instructed middle school students in religious education through the Release Time program at Greencrest Park Community Baptist Church, Reynolds. Mr. Leventry was a former Cub Scout leader for several local troops. Surviving are: his wife, the former Isabelle Mae Webster, whom he married Aug. 25, 1944; two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Rosemary) Menke, Greenville; and Mrs. Wayne (Patricia) Boylan, Zebulon, Ga.; three sons, Robert W., Transfer; Samuel C., Naperville, Ill.; and James E., Greenville; two brothers, Wayne D., Johnstown; and Norman, Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Bonnie) Spichal, Greenville; and Mrs. Harry (Betty) Kimmel, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Lee; and two brothers, Howard and William. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside Evangelical Congregational Church, 3203 N. LEVENTRY Kay Marino Wisconsin woman was Farrell native, worked at WE GLENDALE, Wis. -- Kay Marino, Glendale, formerly of the Shenango Valley, died at 10:58 p.m. Dec. 14, 2000, at home. She was 82. Mrs. Marino was born March 28, 1918, in Farrell to Rinaldo and Caroline Menghini Casacia. She attended Farrell area schools and later worked for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. Surviving are: her husband, Santo Marino of Milwaukee, whom she married July 16, 1944, at home; two sons, Nick, Whitefish Bay, Wis.; and Ronald, Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Nancy Marino, Farrell; two brothers, Dominic Casacia, Farrell; and Albert Casacia, Mercer; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Calling hours were 10 a.m. to time of service Dec. 18, 2000, in Whitefish Bay. A funeral service followed at noon, with burial in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
Thomas William Maurice Ex-Hermitage man, merchant mariner was Air Force vet ASHTABULA, Ohio -- Thomas William Maurice, 3609 Station Ave., Ashtabula, formerly of Hermitage, died at 11:23 p.m. Thursday (12-21-00) in Ashtabula County Medical Center following an extended illness. He was 47. Mr. Maurice was born March 2, 1953, in Sharon to Henry and Bernice Wolford Maurice. He attended Hickory High School in Hermitage. An Air Force veteran, Mr. Maurice was serving in the Merchant Marines in Ashtabula. Surviving are: a daughter, Marie, Andover, Ohio; three sisters, Kim Terlesky, Brookfield; Kathy Koosh, Hermitage; and Connie Martin, Ravenna, Ohio; seven brothers, Mike, Hammond, Ind.; Pat, Dave and Dan, twin brother of the deceased, all Hermitage; Jeff, Independence, Mo.; Tim, Eau Claire, Wis.; and Ron, Sharon; and two half brothers; and a half sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; a half brother; and a half sister.
MAURICE Betty June McKay Obituary was published 12-24-00 Betty June McKay, 186 Cranberry Road, Grove City, died after battling leukemia for more than one year. Mrs. McKay was a former member of Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Grove City, where she taught Sunday school and helped with the young people's ministry. She formerly was primary Sunday school superintendent for many years. Mrs. McKay was a member of Center Presbyterian Church, Grove City, where she served as a deacon. NESTICH Bonita L. Pettola '55 Brookfield High graduate was Hubbard homemaker Bonita L. Pettola, 953 Doris Drive, Hubbard, died at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday (12-26-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System from complications of diabetes. She was 63. Mrs. Pettola was born Aug. 21, 1937, in Brookfield to James L. and Cathryn G. Heath Hodge Sr. A 1955 alumna of Brookfield High School, she moved to Hubbard in 1959. Mrs. Pettola was a homemaker and a Methodist. Surviving are: her husband, Anthony J. Pettola, whom she married Sept. 12, 1959; two daughters, Cathryn LaCivita, Hubbard; and Toni Constantino, Struthers, Ohio; a brother, James Hodge Jr., Brookfield; five sisters, Judy Bottar, Diane Petsko and Cathy Scharba, all Brookfield; and Debbie Hacker and Michelle Karabin, both Hubbard; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

SIRKO Belinda Joyce Washington '72 Farrell grad formerly worked at SRHS, Herald PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY, Md. -- Belinda Joyce Washington, Forrestville, Md., formerly of 902 Wallis Ave., Farrell, died at 4 a.m. Dec. 16, 2000, in Malcom Grow Air Force Medical Center, Andrews Air Force Base, of a heart attack. She was 46. Mrs. Washington was born June 5, 1954, in Cheraw, S.C., to Glynn S. and Virginia Byrd Johnson. A 1972 alumnus of Farrell High School, she graduated from Bradford Business School in Pittsburgh and was an administrative aide since 1989 at Maryland State Department of Environmental Resources. While in the Shenango Valley, Mrs. Washington was a former office worker at Sharon Regional Health System and worked in the advertising department of The Herald, Sharon. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Landover, Md., where she belonged to the New Members Ministry. Mrs. Washington was a former member of First Baptist Church, Farrell. Surviving are: her husband, Theodore James Washington Sr., whom she married Aug. 14, 1987; a daughter, Mrs. Garland (Tiffany Sharee) McNeal Jr., Upper Marboro, Md.; a son, Theodore James Jr., Forrestville; her parents, Farrell; three brothers, Anthony and Myron Johnson, both Farrell; and Kelvin Johnson, Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday (12-21-00) in First Baptist Church of Glenarden, with the Rev. John K. Jenkins Sr., pastor, officiating and the Rev. Thomas H. Sims Jr. as eulogist. Burial was in Maryland National Memorial Park, Landover.
