Today's obituaries Mary Archer Fort Lauderdale homemaker formerly lived in Masury FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Mary Archer, 1508 NE 2nd Ave., Fort Lauderdale, formerly of Masury, died Wednesday (1-10-01) in her home. She was 84. Mrs. Archer was born Feb. 5, 1916, in Aliquippa, Pa., to Michael and Bertha Dudash Safin. She belonged to Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church, Fort Lauderdale; and was a former member of St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Sharon. Her husband, Edwin Archer, whom she married June 10, 1939, died Sept. 4, 1954. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Larry L. (Barbara) Clark, Fort Lauderdale; a son, Robert J. Archer, Haines City, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Andrew and Michael Safin; and a sister, Anna Giroski. ARCHER Martin L. Craig Martin L. Craig, 429 Line St., Sharpsville, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday (1-12-01) in his home. He was 59. Obituary information was incomplete. CRAIGMary E. Jones Former Sharon resident was member of Sacred Heart LAS VEGAS -- Funeral Mass will be Monday for Mary E. Jones, 9353 W. Twain Ave., Las Vegas, formerly of Sharon and North Olmsted, Ohio. She died Wednesday evening (1-10-01) in University Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 56. Mrs. Jones was born April 10, 1944, in Gallitzin, Cambria County, to Paul and Ada Glass Stafford. A 1962 alumna of Reynolds High School, she worked at one time for Angela’s hairdresser, Sharon; and Hill’s Department Store, Hermitage. While in North Olmsted, Mrs. Jones was employed by Discount Drug Mart. She was a former member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, and St. Richard’s Church, North Olmsted. Mrs. Jones loved crocheting and playing cards. She also enjoyed bowling and belonged to many leagues in the Shenango Valley. Surviving are: her husband, James P. Jones Sr., whom she married Aug. 18, 1962, at home; three sons, James P. Jones Jr., Sharon; Stephen T. Jones, Chicago; and Paul D. Jones, Las Vegas; a sister, Mrs. David (Donna) Conn, Transfer; two brothers, William J. Stafford, Cranberry Township; and Daniel Stafford, Greenville; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, David Francis. Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Organ Recovery and Education (C.O.R.E.), 204 Sigma Drive, Pittsburgh 15238.
JONES Rosalie B. Bernard Kmetz Church of Notre Dame member was homemaker Funeral Mass will be Monday for Rosalie B. Bernard Kmetz, West Salem Township, formerly of Longview Road, Hermitage. She died at 12:25 a.m. Friday (1-12-01) in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township, after a lengthy illness. She was 84. Mrs. Kmetz was born Dec. 21, 1916, in United, Pa., to John W. and Rose V. Pavlochak Bernard. She was an alumna of Hurst High School, United. A homemaker, Mrs. Kmetz enjoyed crocheting and baking and took care of the altar linens at Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. As a member of Notre Dame, she belonged to the Ave Maria Society. Mrs. Kmetz was also a member of Wednesday Senior Mixed Bowling at Sunset Lanes, Farrell. Her husband, Joseph F. Kmetz, whom she married Feb. 24, 1938, died Jan. 30, 1999. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Rosalie) Sulecki, Greenville; and Genevieve Williams, Sharon; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, who died Jan. 20, 1981; her mother, who died Dec. 4, 1994; and a brother, John Bernard, who died May 8, 1966. KMETZ Theresa M. Zambino DeAngio Immaculate Heart member was Mercer schools retiree Theresa M. Zambino DeAngio, 210 N. Maple St., Mercer, died at 3 p.m. Friday (1-12-01) in Woodland Place, Coolspring Township. She was 83. Mrs. DeAngio was born June 1, 1917, in Mercer to Felix and Theresa Zambino. She retired after 27½ years as a cafeteria worker for Mercer School District. Mrs. DeAngio was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church; and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1637, both Mercer. Surviving are: her husband, Peter D. DeAngio, whom she married Aug. 30, 1935, at home; a daughter, Connie Eves, Mercer; two sons, James P. DeAngio, New Castle; and David P. DeAngio, Mercer; a sister, Mary DeAngelo, Detroit; a brother, John Zambino, Mercer; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren,. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Viola Stodolak; and Rose and Methilda Zambino; and three brothers, Anthony, Augustine and Samuel Zambino. DeANGIO Julia M. Durkos Former Farrell resident was known for her pizza Julia M. Durkos, 1119 Yankee Run Road, Masury, formerly of Farrell, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday (1-11-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. She was 82. Mrs. Durkos was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Farrell to Frank and Christina DeVune Rocco. A 1936 alumna of Farrell High School, she was owner and operator for six years of the Pizza Pub, Sharon. Known for her pizza, Mrs. Durkos at one time was a cook for Hilltop Inn, Farrell; and was a cook and barmaid at Capuzzi's, Brookfield; Hollywood Grille; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8860, both Masury. As a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, she served as a hostess in the 1950s for the church picnic. Mrs. Durkos loved bowling and was a member of the English Speaking League Mixed Couples Bowling League at Sunset Lanes, Farrell. She was an avid sports fan. Her husband, Joseph Durkos Jr., whom she married Oct. 12, 1940, died June 23, 1980. Surviving are: two sons, Joseph Durkos III, Hubbard; and Robert L. Durkos, Masury; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Christine) Szabo, Masury; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frank Rocco; a sister, Mary Vasile; and infant sisters and brothers.
