Helen Ida Morse Kyle New Wilmington woman was a homemaker Helen Ida Morse Kyle, 235 High St., New Wilmington, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2003, in her residence. She was 80. Mrs. Kyle was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Wilmington Township, Lawrence County, to Carl M. Morse and Tillie Miller Morse. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School Class of 1941. A lifetime member of New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Kyle was a cancer survivor for more than 42 years. As a homemaker, she loved cooking, gardening, bird watching and taking rides with her husband of 60 years, John Dwight Kyle, whom she married on May 22, 1942. Surviving are: her husband, John, at the residence; one daughter, Sue Lynn Garrett and her husband Ken, New Wilmington; two grandchildren, Michael Brian Garrett, Cranberry Township; and Berea Sue Foreman, New Wilmington; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Kyle Garrett, Holly Katherine Garrett and Brandy Lynn Foreman. Mrs. Kyle was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Ethel Shaffer, Edna Jacobson, Florence Sankey, Esther Wright Jamison and Della McFerren; and four brothers, John Morse, Carl Morse, Herbert Morse and Frank Donald Morse.
Thelma K. 'Mitzie' Kitchen Mitchell Thelma K. "Mitzie" Kitchen Mitchell, 4851 Gandy Blvd., 16 Canal Drive, Tampa, Fla., died at 4 a.m. Sunday (3-2-03) in her home. She was 78. Obituary information was incomplete.
Mark E. Goebel Retired accountant was WWII vet, active Mason Mark E. Goebel, a 20-year resident of 60 Esposito Road, Jackson Township, died at 10:09 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, after a 16-month illness. He was 83. Mr. Goebel was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Trenton, Ohio, to Carl Frederick and Clara Theiss Goebel. He retired in 1981 from the International Division of U.S. Steel Corp. in Pittsburgh as a field accountant, having worked for the company since 1949. Mr. Goebel was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. An active Mason, he was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 603, Grove City; a past high priest of Mound Royal Arch Chapter 212, Greenville; past T.I.M. of Sharon Council 48 of Greenville; and past commander of Mount Calvary Commandery 67, Greenville. Mr. Goebel also belonged to the Vagabonds of Mecca. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. His wife, the former Jeanne Wilkinson, whom he married on Dec. 23, 1948, survives in Grove City. Also surviving are: two sons, Edwin M. Goebel and his wife Linda, Aurora, Ill.; and David P. Goebel and his wife Robin, Lansing, Kansas; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gerald (Sara Lynn) Hoege, Poway, Calif.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Goebel was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marion Goebel; and one sister, Myra Garrett. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 819 Columbia Ave., Grove City 16127; or Lutheran Affiliated Services, 1323 Freedom Road, Cranberry Township, Pa. 16066.
GOEBEL
George L. Cameron Jr. Shenango Inc. retiree was farmer, hunter, angler George L. Cameron Jr., 2647 S. Neshannock Road, Hermitage, died at 5:16 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2003, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, following an extended illness. He was 72. Mr. Cameron was born March 22, 1930, in Hermitage to George L. Cameron and Bessie Taylor Cameron. He retired as a welder from the former Shenango Inc. in Sharpsville, where he worked for 36 years. An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Cameron was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a farmer and formerly owned a race car. His wife, the former Margaret Buynak, whom he married on March 31, 1951, survives at the residence. Also surviving are: one brother, Wendell Cameron, also at the residence in Hermitage; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Cameron was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and six brothers.
Louis Albert Gordon Pine Township watchmaker was G.C. meter serviceman Louis Albert Gordon, Pine Township, died on Saturday afternoon, March 1, 2003, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township. He was 80. Mr. Gordon was born March 24, 1922, in Pittsburgh to George W. Gordon and Eleanor Smith Gordon. A watchmaker, he repaired clocks for 50 years and was a meter serviceman for Grove City for 23è years. Mr. Gordon was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Doug (Patricia) Bovard; and Susan Marie Gordon; one sister, Dorothy Onorato; and a brother, Harold Gordon, all Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Jonathan. He was also a dear friend of Janet Fabian. His wife, the former Evelyn M. Swarner, whom he married on Aug. 23, 1948, died on Jan. 9, 1972. Besides his wife, Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosemarie Homa; and an infant sister, Annabelle Gordon.
Harland E. 'Hawk' Jamieson Retired GATX welder was post card collector YOUNGSTOWN -- Harland E. "Hawk" Jamieson of Girard, died Friday evening, Feb. 28, 2003, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was 69. Mr. Jamieson was born Aug. 9, 1933, in Greenville a son of Harold and Charlotte Wilcox Jamieson. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Jamieson worked for General American Transportation Corp.'s former Masury plant as a welder for 26 years before retiring in 1984. He was an avid post card collector as well as being a post card dealer. He was a member of the Western Reserve Post Card Club; and the GATX Retirees. Mr. Jamieson enjoyed archery, hunting and fishing. He leaves: his wife, the former Emily Scelsi, whom he married Oct. 30, 1952; a son, Mathew Jamieson and his wife Michelle, Masury; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Dawnelle) Hitchcock, Masury; and Karen Al'Sharif, Youngstown; one brother, Larry Jamieson, Masury; and eight grandchildren.
