Today's obituaries Maureen Sue Presley Bailey Brookfield High grad was nurse in North Carolina WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Mass of Christian burial will be today for Maureen Sue Presley Bailey who died Wednesday (11-1-00) in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital, Wilmington. Mrs. Bailey was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Sharon to Leonard and Margaret Klapach Presley. A Brookfield High School alumnus, she graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing, Cleveland. Mrs. Bailey was staff nurse at the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center of New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. She had worked as a public health nurse, school nurse and industrial nurse in various parts of the country. Surviving are: her husband, Warren Randolph Bailey; a daughter, Mrs. Daryl (Cheryl) Toerck, Columbia, S.C.; two sons, William Bailey, Clayton, N.C.; and Eric Bailey, Charlotte, N.C.; and a grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mrs. Gary (Paula) Sabo. Helen Gatzy Basher Retired Packard employee lived in Ontario, Canada ONTARIO, Canada -- Helen Gatzy Basher, 2326 Augusta Place, formerly of Hermitage, died Oct. 8, 2000, in San Antonio Hospital, Upland, Calif.. She was 86. Mrs. Basher was born Jan 7, 1914, in Farrell to John and Elizabeth Takach Gatzy. She was a 1935 alumna of Farrell High School. Retiring in 1971 after 21 years as a press operator, Mrs. Basher was employed at Delphi Packard Electric, Warren, Ohio. She was a former member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. Surviving are: her husband, Francis E. Basher, whom she married June 12, 1937; a daughter, Jan Campbell, Ontario; and a grandson. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Minchoff, Mary Susa, Elizabeth Malavich and Julia Masquelier, and three brothers, John, Joseph and Paul Gatzy.
BASHER Alysun Marie Bowers Alysun Marie Bowers, infant daughter of Bryan W. and Elaine R. Rusnak Bowers, 870 Woodland Road, Sharpsville, was stillborn at 5:16 a.m. Friday (11-3-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. The family belongs to St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Hermitage. Surviving besides her parents are: a sister, Halaina Renee Bowers, at home; grandmothers June Rusnak, Hermitage and Margaret "Peg" Bowers, New Wilmington; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Russell Smith, New Port Richey, Fla.; and Cecil Bowers, New Wilmington.
BOWERS Sharon Lee Cameron Sharon Lee Cameron, Lot 44 Covered Bridge Mobile Home Park, Pymatuning Township, died at 7:10 p.m. Friday (11-3-00) in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was 45. Obituary information was incomplete.
CAMERON Eleanor Elizabeth Leonard Altoona native was active in GC food pantry, church Eleanor Elizabeth Leonard, 1522 Perry Highway, Springfield Township, died at 5:20 a.m. Friday (11-3-00) in Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township, after an extended illness. She was 72. Mrs. Leonard was born March 16, 1928, in Altoona, Pa., to Daniel Sylvester and Nettie Grace Leonard Brown. A 1946 graduate of Altoona High School, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Leonard was a member of Grace Methodist Church, Grove City and was active in the food pantry ministry of the church. She was also a member of AARP, the retired persons organization. Surviving are: her husband, H. Landis Leonard, whom she married Feb. 14, 1963, at home; a daughter Barbara Replogle, Altoona; two sons, Kenneth A. Leonard, Mercer and Ronald E. Leonard, Cortland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
LEONARD Vivian G. McIntire Greenville area woman cared for children in her home Vivian G. McIntire, 81 Donation Road, Hempfield Township, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday (11-3-00) in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. She was 67. She was born April 26, 1933, in Sharpsville to Walter and Lavinia Weingard Williams. She attended the former Penn High School, Greenville, and cared for children in her home for many years. She attended Hillside Presbyterian Church, Greenville. Surviving are: two daughters, Bonnie Parker, Mercer; and Mrs. Donald (Judith) Kellar, Greenville; a son, Walter G. McIntire, Greenville; three sisters, Mrs. Roger (Juanita) Calvin, Hadley; and Mrs. Clifford (Ann) Harriger and Mrs. William (Sandra) Alabran, both Greenville; and four granddaughters. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Torongeau, and two infants, and two brothers, Walter and James Williams.
McINTIRE John D. O’Brien Brookfield man was Sacred Heart member, sports fan Mass of Christian burial will be Monday for John D. O’Brien, 1634 state Route 7, Brookfield. He died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday (11-2-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 90. Mr. O’Brien was born Oct. 2, 1910, in Sharon, to John and Catherine McCarthy O’Brien. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Schools, Sharon. Mr. O’Brien was employed at Sharon Tube, Co., Sharon. He retired in 1972 after 44 years as a roller. He then worked part-time for Maybrook Construction Co. and Dairy Queen Brazier, both Brookfield. Mr. O’Brien was a lifelong member of the Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. He enjoyed attending his grandchildrens’ sporting events and activities. Mr. O’Brien was an avid golfer and University of Notre Dame fan. Surviving are: his wife, the former Sophie Dobroski, whom he married Nov. 26, 1936, at home; four daughters, Mrs. James (Mary "Kitti") Hudson, Sharon; Mrs. Joseph (Patricia) Kovack, Hubbard; Mrs. Dale (Jennifer) Bacik, Chesterland, Ohio; and Mrs. Anthony (Dorothy "Dotti") Pepe, Brookfield; six sons, John, Masury; Attorney James, Paul, Thomas and Robert, all of Brookfield; and Michael, Fowler; a brother, Paul O’Brien, Sharpsville; 36 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Frances Weber; two granddaughters, Jill and Stephanie O’Brien; two grandsons, Paul and Robert O’Brien; a sister, Kathleen Mills; and two brothers, James and Daniel O’Brien. She died Thursday evening (11-2-00) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 74. Mrs. Scriven was born June 6, 1926, in Cochranton to William C. and Norma A. George Perry. A homemaker, she enjoyed crocheting, reading her Bible, doing crossword puzzles and visiting flea markets and garage sales. Mrs. Scriven was a member of North Salem United Methodist Church, Salem Township. Surviving are: her husband, Richard E. Scriven, whom she married Nov. 2, 1943; four daughters, Saundra D. Catalano, Greenville; Judith S. Griffiths, Hermitage; Kathleen D. Campbell, Leavenworth, Kan.; and Pamela L. Wright, Sharon; five sons, Richard E., Stanley R. and Timothy D., all Greenville; Daniel L., Sharon; and Frederick C., Hadley; two sisters, Norma J. Wheeler, Raymilton, Pa., and Carol L. Bartel, Greenville; two brothers, Robert E. Perry, Sandy Lake, and William C. Perry, Greenville; 23 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. SCRIVEN Marian B. Ward Hermitage woman belonged to Hickory U.M. Church Marian B. Ward, 1080 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday (11-2-00), in Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township, after an extended illness. She was 79. Mrs. Ward was born April 28, 1921, in Sharon, to Lawrence L. and Hazel Bell Stewart. A Sharon High School graduate, she was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ward was a former member of the Woman’s Club of Hermitage. Her husband, William R. Ward, Jr. whom she married July 27, 1941, died March 17, 1997. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Judith) Nill, North Canton, Ohio and Mrs. Susan Bissell, Douglasville, Ga.; a son, William Robert Ward III, Hermitage; two sisters, Betty L. and Dorothy A. WARD Frank S. Yucha St. Michael’s member retired from Copper Weld Steel Mass of Christian burial will be Monday (11-6-00) for Frank S. Yucha, 75 Orangeville Road, West Salem Township. He died Thursday afternoon (11-2-00) in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after an apparent heart attack. He was 73. Mr. Yucha was born April 12, 1927, in Pittsfield, Pa., to John and Frances Kellar Yucha. The Cambridge Springs (Pa.) High School alumnus served from 1945 through 1949 as a chef in the Air Force. He retired after 26 years as a carpenter with Copper Weld Steel of Warren, Ohio. Mr. Yucha was a member of St. Michael’s Church and Knights of Columbus Joseph Fitzmartin Council 1446, both Greenville He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are: his wife, the former Frances L. Ozimek, whom he married May 9, 1953; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Sylvia) Peacock and Mrs. Brian (Kathy) Thompson, both Greenville; and Mrs. Daniel (Vickie) Pagliarini, Trumbull, Conn.; a sister, Isabelle Householder, Saegertown, Pa.; two brothers, John and Edward, both Cambridge Springs; and four grandchildren Memorial contributions may be made to the endowment fund of St. Michael’s School, 85 N.
