Frank O. Curcio Jr. Brookfield man, Navy vet retired as Farrell firefighter The following obituary is being reprinted from Thursday to include a photo given to The Herald after deadline and to correct information given to The Herald by family members. A memorial service will be held Friday for Frank O. Curcio of 1159 N. Albright McKay Road, Brookfield. He died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday (12-10-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 59. Mr. Curcio was born Oct. 30, 1943, in Sharon, a son of Frank and Irene Alongi Curcio. He was a graduate of Farrell High School. Frank Curcio was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in March 1968. A Farrell firefighter, he retired after 21 years of service. His memberships included Our Lady of Fatima Church; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, both Farrell; Italian American War Vets; Retired Firefighters; and the Italian Homes. Frank enjoyed motor home traveling, flea markets and having coffee with friends. Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Didio Curcio, whom he married Nov. 7, 1970; his mother, Irene Alongi Curcio; three sisters, Lucy Vernile, Maumee, Ohio; Barbara Curcio, Farmland, Ind.; and Mrs. Joseph (Kathy) Bayer, Cincinnati. Frank had many nieces and nephews and played a major role in the upbringing of Jeff and Justin Simpson. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank O. Curcio Sr. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of the Valley and Angels for Animals.
CURCIO Eugene J. Sniezek WWII vet of Hermitage was self-employed contractor Eugene J. Sniezek of 945 S. Hermitage Road in Hermitage passed away at 6:35 a.m. Thursday (12-12-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. He was 84. Mr. Sniezek was born Sept. 20, 1918, in New Castle, a son of Joseph and Sophie Sniezek Sniezek. He worked as a self-employed contractor for many years, building residential homes throughout the Hermitage area. Previously he had worked for the former National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp. in Sharon. Mr. Sniezek was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Sharon. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working outside in his garden, as well as around his home. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. His wife, the former Anne M. Bodziach, whom he married Nov. 9, 1940, survives at home. Mr. Sniezek also leaves: two daughters, Eugenia "Genie" Anne Ray and her husband Fredrick E. Ray, Mercer; and Dr. Norene M. Moskalski and her husband Dr. Michael D. Moskalski, Philadelphia; one son, Daniel E. Sniezek and his wife Dawn, Phoenix; one sister, Laura Bodziach; and one brother, Henry Sniezek and his wife Virginia, all New Castle; four grandchildren, Martha Smith, Steven Ray, Susanne Moskalski and Lisa Rutherford; and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Grant Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Sniezek; and two sisters, Helen Pajank and an infant, Eugenia Sniezek. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 370 Spruce Ave., Sharon 16146.
SNIEZEK Robert Everett Russelburg Ex-New Castle man born in Sharon was meat cutter SHENANGO TOWNSHIP -- Robert Everett Russelburg, formerly of 414 Fairmont Ave., New Castle, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 10, 2002. He was 44. Born June 9, 1958, in Sharon, Mr. Russelburg was a son of Joseph E. Russelburg and Connie M. Lorenzo Russelburg. He attended New Castle High School and was employed as a meat cutter by New Castle Packing; Leali Brothers Meat, Hermitage; and Shenango Provision Co., Sharon. Surviving are: a sister, Dana Strauss and her husband Jay, Hermitage; two brothers, Joseph A. and his wife Mary Jane, Carlisle, Pa.; and Mark and his wife Laurie, Reading, Pa.; and seven nieces and nephews. Mr. Russelburg was preceded in death by his parents.
RUSSELBURG Katherine H. Jacobson UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- Katherine H. Jacobson, 410 Terrace Drive, Uniontown, formerly of Sharon, died of natural causes at 1:28 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in Cherry Tree Nursing Center. She was 94. Obituary information was incomplete.
JACOBSON Marian L. Houston Church member, league bowler was secretary Marian L. Houston, 6949 Dermond Road, Hermitage, died of natural causes at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 65. Mrs. Houston was born Dec. 11, 1937, in Sharpsville to James D. Frazier and Anna V. Montgomery Frazier. A graduate of Sharpsville High School Class of 1955, she was a secretary for 12 years for Cattron Communications in Sharpsville and, later, for Parker Well Drilling in Hermitage. As a member for 40 years of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Hermitage, Mrs. Houston was a past president of the church women's group and of the Ultra Guild. She was an avid NASCAR fan and bowler and served as a secretary of her bowling league, the Bowlettes of Hickory Bowl in Hermitage. Mrs. Houston's hobbies were gardening and bird watching. Her husband, Arthur R. Houston, whom she married May 4, 1957, survives at home. Also surviving are: two sons, James H. Houston and his fiance, Judy Waldner, Hermitage; and David A. Houston and his wife Nancy, Mercer; one sister, Mrs. Ray (Mary) Hawkins, Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Robert Frazier and his wife Beverly, Greenville; and David Frazier and his wife Nora, Sharon; and three granddaughters, Danielle, Abby and Karley Houston. Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James and George Frazier. Memorial contributions may be made in Marian's name to American Heart Association, 59 N. Crescent Drive, Hermitage 16148.
HOUSTON Alice Genevieve Grundy Artman White Alice Genevieve Grundy Artman White, New Wilmington, formerly of 3951 Bethel-New Wilmington Road, Wilmington Township, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday (12-12-02) in The Overlook nursing home, New Wilmington. She was 85. Obituary information was incomplete.
