Former Sharpsville man retired from Dean Foods A funeral service will be held Thursday for George R. "Jiggs" English, Masury, formerly of 609 Main St., Sharpsville. He died at 4:03 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, in O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury, after a brief illness. He was 77. Mr. English was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Sharpsville to Renwick A. English and Elizabeth E. Dilley English. He attended Sharpsville schools and retired in 1988 after 31 years as a delivery salesman for Dean Foods, South Pymatuning Township. Mr. English was of the Methodist faith and belonged to American Legion Post 162, Sharpsville. He was an avid soap opera watcher. Surviving are: one daughter, Marsha English, Oil City; his caretaker and nephew, Ron Robbins and his wife Sandra, Hubbard; two brothers, Raymond English, Sharpsville; and Daniel English, California; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin English; a sister, Ellen L. Robbins; and a brother, Victor English.
Cecelia H. 'Dandy' Bailey Retired nurse, active senior formerly lived in Sharon KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Cecelia H. "Dandy" Bailey of River Oaks Place in Loudon, Tenn., formerly of Athens, Ga., and Sharon, passed away Monday morning, March 10, 2003, in University of Tennessee Hospital. She was 93. She was a devout Catholic all her life. Born March 3, 1910 in Bridgeport, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ambrose and Mary Elizabeth Weaver Hagarman. She was the widow of Arthur L. Bailey, having been blessed with a happy marriage of 60 years. After retiring as a registered nurse from the University of Georgia Health Services, Dandy pursued her dream of a college degree and graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's in education at 75 years old. On the Athens Council on Aging, she earned the 1987 "Inspiration Award" for her volunteer work at the senior center. She loved working with the "older folks" who were all her junior. She was the Georgia regional coordinator for the ABC Quilt Project for at-risk babies until age 86. She was an avid Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs fan. Her family takes comfort knowing that if ever there was an angel living on earth, it was their beloved mother and grandmother. She is survived by: two daughters, Janet Walsh, Meadville; and Marce Strickland, Loudon; and her brother, Father Vincent Hagarman S.J., Canton, Ohio. She will be missed by seven loving grandchildren, Sharon Asbury, Hendersonville, N.C.; Bill Walsh, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Deb McCafferty, Phillipsburg, Pa.; Chris Mauser, Fayetteville, N.C.; Kelly Gavlak, Philadelphia; Kathy Strickland, Denver; and Jon Walsh, Rochester, Minn. She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Connor Asbury; Josh, Lucas and Bella Walsh; Emily, Olivia and Adeline McCafferty; and Samantha and Mariah Mauser. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Child Advocacy Center, Box 928, Lenoir City, TN 37771.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Bertha Sophia Beveridge, Tucson, formerly of Powers Avenue, South Pymatuning Township, died of natural causes Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, 2003, in Tucson. She was 80.
Vivian Craven Vivian Craven, 75 Mercer Road, Wheatland, died Sunday (3-9-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 54. Obituary information was incomplete.
GC plant retiree, honored WWII vet owned taxidermy TAMPA, Fla. -- Walter E. Jones, Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Springfield Township, died at 2:14 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, in Tampa General Hospital after a brief illness. He was 80. Mr. Jones was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Springfield Township to Anthony "Todd" Jones and Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Atkinson Jones. He retired in 1984 from Cooper Energy Services Reciprocating Products, Grove City, where he had been a foundry worker and high lift operator. He also owned and operated Jones Taxidermy in Springfield Township. Mr. Jones was a decorated World War II Army veteran, having received numerous medals. He was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Zephyrhills and was previously a member of Grove City Christian Missionary and Alliance Church, Pine Township. His wife, the former Elsie Marie Buckley, whom he married Jan. 31, 1947, survives at the residence in Zephyrhills. Also surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Breese, Grove City; and Arlene D. Powell, Zephyrhills; one son, Walter E. "Butch" Jones Jr. and his wife Betty, Jackson Center; one sister, Mrs. Delton (Geraldine "Gerry") Sidley, Grove City; and two brothers, William "Bill" Jones and James "Jim" Jones, both New Wilmington. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Walter E. Jones III, Jarrod Breese, Joel Breese and Jennifer Powell; and four great-grandchildren, Kayla Shumaker, Jacob Violette, McKenna Breese and Seth Breese. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Edith Kristyak; and one brother, Robert.
Sharda Modi Homemaker born in India had son in Hempfield Twp. Sharda Modi, 309 Eighth Ave., Hempfield Township, formerly of Wilmington, N.C., died of natural causes at 5 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, in the home of her son, with whom she lived. She was 92. Sharda was born March 2, 1911, in India to Varjayshankar and Jaluben Mehta. She graduated from schools in India and was a homemaker. Surviving are: a daughter, Uma Dey, India; four sons, Anil Mody, New Jersey; Naresh Mody, Estonia; Harshad Mody, North Carolina; and Chet Mody, Hempfield Township, at home. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Chandulal Mody, died in February 1970. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Damyanti Shah; one sister; and one brother.
Marine worked after retiring from Cooper-Jarrett Trucking Robert Lee Richardson, 3533 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 74. Mr. Richardson was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Sharon to Russell Raymond Richardson and Cecelia "Pat" VanHorn Richardson. He was a graduate of Sharon High School Class of 1946 and retired from Cooper-Jarrett Trucking, Shenango Township. Mr. Richardson had also worked at Shenango Steel Buildings of West Middlesex and, most recently, worked driving automobiles for Mel Grata Chevrolet-Toyota, Hermitage. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict. Mr. Richardson loved to read and enjoyed bowling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was affiliated with West Middlesex United Methodist Church. His wife, the former Helen Louise Erb, whom he married May 10, 1950, survives at the residence. Also surviving are: six daughters, Connie and her husband Terry Gerba, Brookfield; Janis and her husband William Zawacki; and Laurel Jayne Teague, all Sharon; Lou Anne and her husband Steve Ryan, White Bear Lake, Minn.; Patty Jo and her husband James Hodge, West Middlesex; and Rebecca and her husband Trace Taylor, Somerset, N.J.; five sons, David Richardson; and Daniel and his wife Desiree Richardson, all West Middlesex; Russell "Rusty" and his wife Barbara Richardson, Atlanta; R. Scott and his wife Jennifer Richardson, St. Paul, Minn.; and Maj. Chris Richardson and his wife Sara Richardson, Tucson, Ariz.; one half brother, Donald McBride, Topton, N.C.; and two half sisters, Barbara Yungen, Boardman, Ohio; and Diane Arkwright, Cross City, Fla. He also leaves 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Chad Michael Teague and David Richard Richardson; and one half brother, Jack Arkwright. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercer County Chapter of American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon 16146.
Thomas L. Wilkins Thomas L. Wilkins, 632 E. State St., Sharon, died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday (3-11-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 47. Obituary information was incomplete.
