John A. Baker Jr. Active golf pro, teacher was Notre Dame Church member A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday (6-5-02) for John A. Baker Jr., 1049 Carroll Lane, Hermitage. He died unexpectedly at 4:37 p.m. Saturday (6-1-02) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 58. Mr. Baker was born Aug. 15, 1943, in McKeesport, Pa., to John A. Baker Sr. and Helen Yonkovich Baker. He graduated in 1961 from McKeesport High School. He worked for Oakmont East Golf Course, Pittsburgh, as general manager and was head professional for the past 11 years. Prior to that, he was a teaching professional at Tam O'Shanter Golf Course in Hermitage; and was Sharon Country Club's golf pro for 11 years. Previously, he was Butler (Pa.) Country Club's assistant golf pro for eight years; and Fox Chapel (Pa.) Country Club's assistant golf pro for two years. He was a member of the Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage since 1973. His golf career started in 1962 at Oakmont Country Club. He became a Tri-State Professional Golf Association (PGA) member in 1972 and had held his playing card ever since. He played in three U.S. Senior Opens, in 1996, 1997 and 1998, and was a medalist in 1996 and 1997. In 1972 he played in the U.S. Open, in which he was a medalist. He also played in the West Penn Open several times and played in numerous state and national golf pro tournaments, winning numerous times. He was considered one of the best Tri-State players and teachers. He served on the Tri-State Section PGA Board, received teacher of the year honors and taught golf to inner city kids in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Mountain Men, Marienville, Pa. He also was very involved with his family. He enjoyed fishing, guns, woodworking, John Wayne movies, western paraphernalia and, especially, dancing with his wife. Surviving are: his mother of McKeesport; his wife, the former Billie Oleska, whom he married Sept. 5, 1964; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Erin) Hinchcliff, Hermitage; and Mrs. Brian (Dawn) Siddall, Edinburg; one sister, Mrs. William (Mary Ann) Goff, Topeka, Kan.; and three grandchildren, Alec, Johnny and Erica Hinchcliff. His father preceded him in death.
BAKER Rachel Leigh Crocker Rachel Leigh Crocker, 282 Veterans Road, Springfield Township, died after an illness at 3:12 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, in Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was 4. Rachel was born Feb. 13, 1998, in Grove City to Jerry Wayne and Tracy Annette Mason Crocker. She was a member of Fellowship Community Church, Mercer. Rachel loved life, and her kidneys were donated to two others. Surviving are: her parents, Mercer; her grandparents, John N. and Harriet L. Mason, Mercer; and Tommy G. and Martha A. Crocker, Mercer; her great-grandmother, Annette R. Thompson, Mercer; her great-grandfather, James D. Jones, Mabank, Texas; her half sister, Denice Crocker, Las Vegas; and her half brother, Dean Crocker, at home. CROCKER Judith Savach Vengren Judith Savach Vengren, 303 Woodland Ave., Farrell, died unexpectedly at 2:45 a.m. today (6-3-02) in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 54. Obituary information was incomplete.
VENGREN Michael C. Albright Sr. Michael C. Albright Sr., 61, of 7424 Brookwood Drive SE, Brookfield, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday (6-2-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. Obituary information was incomplete.
ALBRIGHT Andrew Hardesty Veteran had family in Farrell, Hermitage, Hendersonville GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Andrew Hardesty, 3670 Raynard Way, Grand Junction, formerly of Farrell, died May 28, 2002, in his residence after a brief illness. He was 58. Mr. Hardesty was born March 3, 1944, to John Hardesty and the former Genethalyn Newman. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are: his mother, Grand Junction; four sisters, Louise Hunger and Josephine Hockenberry, both Grand Junction; and Rose Ann Weldon and Mary Hutu, both Macon, Ga.; and three brothers, John "Jack" Hardesty, Hermitage; Daniel Hardesty, Hendersonville; and James Hardesty, Farrell.
HARDESTY Anderson 'Chip' Lerone Stoutmire Former Farrell man was telemarketer in Oil City A memorial service will be held Wednesday (6-5-02) for Anderson "Chip" Lerone Stoutmire, 1335 Chestnut St., Franklin, formerly of Farrell. He passed away at 1:08 p.m. Friday (5-31-02) in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 36. Mr. Stoutmire was born May 14, 1966, in Sharon to Sherman A. and Elenora T. Jordan Stoutmire. He attended Hermitage and Farrell schools. Mr. Stoutmire was a telemarketer for Tele A Rich in Oil City. He was a member of New and Living Way Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, Farrell. Mr. Stoutmire enjoyed art and cooking and all sports. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. Surviving are: his wife, the former Debra L. Clark, whom he married Feb. 23, 1991; one daughter, Angelika Stoutmire, Columbus, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Karyn McLean, Columbus; two sons, Tobias Stoutmire and Joshua Stoutmire, both Clearwater, Fla.; one stepson, Artist McLean, Columbus; his mother, Elenora T. Jordan, Pittsburgh; his father, Farrell; his stepmothers, Christine McCall Stoutmire, Farrell; and Peggy Ann Foster, Pittsburgh; his stepfather, James Hodge, Pittsburgh; two sisters, Levette Stoutmire, Pittsburgh; and Angela Fowler, Atlanta; one foster sister, Arlene A. Cain, Pittsburgh; one brother, Sherman Stoutmire; Greenville, Ala.; several aunts and uncles; and seven nieces and eight nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents
