Frank O. Curcio Jr. Brookfield man, Navy vet retired as Farrell firefighter A memorial service will be held Friday for Frank O. Curcio of 1159 N. Albright McKay Road, Brookfield. He died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday (12-10-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 59. Mr. Curcio was born Oct. 30, 1943, in Sharon, a son of Frank and Irene Alongi Curcio. He was a graduate of Farrell High School. Frank Curcio was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in March 1968. A Farrell firefighter, he retired after 21 years of service. His memberships included Our Lady of Fatima Church; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, both Farrell; Italian American War Vets; Retired Firefighters; and the Italian Homes. Frank enjoyed motor home traveling, flea markets and having coffee with friends. Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Dido Curcio, whom he married Nov. 7, 1970; his mother, Irene Alongi Curcio; three sisters, Lucy Vernile, Maumee, Ohio; Barbara Curcio, Farmland, Ind.; and Mrs. Joseph (Kathy) Bayer, Cincinnati. Frank had many nieces and nephews and played a major role in the upbringing of Jeff and Justin Simpson. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank O. Curcio Sr. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of the Valley and Angels for Animals.
CURCIO Beulah 'Billie' Mae Crawford Baccus Government retiree worked for NASA, served in church Beulah "Billie" Mae Crawford Baccus, 830 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, died at 3:37 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 78. Mrs. Baccus was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Mercer to John Wilson Crawford and Mary Alice Sharp Crawford. A 1942 graduate of Mercer High School, Mrs. Baccus retired in 1984 from National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va., after 30 years of service with the U.S. Government as a GS14. She traveled extensively with the government, having been assigned to Newark, N.J.; the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; and Turkey, Georgia, California, Japan, Egypt and the Holy Land. As a member of Charleston United Methodist Church in Jefferson Township, she served on the administrative board of the church and was the Sunday school superintendent for several years. She was an avid bridge player and participated in bridge clubs at both the Buhl Club in Sharon and at the Suburban Restaurant in Hermitage with her dear friend, Betty. Her husband, Lt. Col. Edwin Vernon Baccus, whom he married April 7, 1950, died May 15, 1982. Surviving are: a daughter, Lynnore "Norie" Ann Baccus Dominguez, Hermitage; a sister, Ana June Crawford Bagnall, Jefferson Township; and two grandchildren, E.J. and Krista L. Dominguez, Hermitage. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph W. and William R. Crawford; and five sisters, Genevieve Locke, Corita McDowell, Atlanta Jewell, Georgia Zahniser and Eleanor Driscoll. BACCUS Wallace W. Hayes Sharpsville company retiree was Brookfield football fan Wallace W. Hayes of 727 state Route 7 SE, Brookfield, died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday (12-10-02) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 63. Mr. Hayes was born Sept. 27, 1939, in Brookfield, a son of Lyle Jay Hayes and Doris E. Wilcox Hayes. Wallace retired in 1991 from Untensico Fabrication Co. in Sharpsville, after 26 years as a burner. He was a proud Brookfield football parent and an avid Brookfield football fan. Survivors include: two daughters, Tami Hosfelt and Helen Marie Hayes, both Brookfield; one son, Lyle J. Hayes, also Brookfield; one stepson, Gene O'Brien, Garland, Texas; one sister, Doris Hume, Kinsman; and one granddaughter, Tynne Dailey O'Brien. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Wallace was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, Tim McClure.
HAYES Robert G. 'Hoguie' Hogue Sharon Steel retiree, Army vet was camper, fisherman Robert G. "Hoguie" Hogue, 617 Hamilton Ave., Farrell, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, in his home after an extended illness. He was 72. Mr. Hogue was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Sharon to Clarence Hogue and Sylvia Mowery Hogue. He attended Farrell area schools and worked for the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant for a total of 30 years, having worked in the electric furnace department, later retiring in 1990 from the carpenters shop. Mr. Hogue was in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1955 in Germany, having served as a medic during the Korean conflict. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1338, Sharon; and Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage; and belonged to Post 5286 as well as American Legion Post 160, both Farrell. He was also a member of the Slovenian Workingmen's Educational Club, Sharon; and the Serbian Home, New Deal Club and Saxon Home, all Farrell. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, craftmaking, cards and puzzles. He was a loving family man and was active and social with his family and within the community. Surviving are: his wife, the former Dolores Miller, at home, whom he married July 23, 1955; three daughters, Dolores and her husband Thomas Sabol; and Karen Korab and her fiancee Gary Jones, all Farrell; and Roberta and her husband Dale Bika, Wheatland; two sons, Keith and his wife Nancy Hogue, Sharon; and Kenneth and his wife Janet Hogue, Liberty Township, Trumbull County; and a sister, Stella and her husband Tom Galloway, Hermitage. Mr. Hogue also leaves 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Patricia Salem; an infant son, Robert Charles Hogue; and two brothers, Clarence Roy Hogue, and an infant, Richard Irvin Hogue.
HOGUE Roy Angelo Pisano Obituary was published 12-11-02 Mr. Pisano was known as "Poppy" to his 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who were very special in his life.
