Ann Harriett Susleck
Longtime beautician had brother, sisters living here

Mrs. Matthew (Ann Harriett) Susleck of 2080 North Road, SE, Warren, Ohio, passed away Feb. 11, 2003, nine days before her 87th birthday. She died from complications following surgery.

The daughter of Nicholas and Agnes Butoryac Rock was born in Farrell. She graduated from Farrell High School, where she was a member of the varsity basketball squad.

Mrs. Susleck was a beautician for almost 60 years. She owned and operated her beauty shop for nearly 40 years in Warren, where she resided with her husband, Matthew Susleck, whom she married in 1947.

She had four children: Mary Kathryn, who died Dec. 7, 1954; John and Matthew Jr., both Santa Monica, Calif.; and Mrs. Jerre (Marilyn) Riggle, Warren. She had two grandchildren, Nate and Anna Riggle, both Warren.

The eldest sister of the Rock family is survived by her brother, Charles, Hermitage; and by four sisters, Mary Farley, Dorothy Kiefer, Mrs. Gene (Ginger) Bupp and Mrs. George (Helen) Marenchin, all Farrell.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Beggs; and by four brothers, William, Nicholas, Ferdinand and Albert Rock.

Mrs. Susleck was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Warren. She was an active member of the Warren Civic Music Club and enjoyed crosswords, reading, discussing politics, coffee drinking and doting on her grandchildren. Her family and friends will sadly miss her.

Howard G. Gardner

Sawhill retiree, Elks

member golfed in leagues

Howard G. Gardner, Speir's Estates, Transfer, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 68.

Mr. Gardner was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Glen Campbell, Pa., to William E. Gardner and Martha Blair Gardner.

A 1953 graduate of Hickory High School in Hermitage, he retired in 1993 after 34 years of service with the former Armco -- Sawhill Tubular Division in Wheatland, where he was a foreman of the galvanizing department.

He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 145, Greenville; and was a social member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 7599, Reynolds.

Mr. Gardner was an avid golfer and played in the golf leagues of both Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166 in Hermitage and of the Reynolds post.

He enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors.

His wife, the former Judith Ann Artman, whom he married on Sept. 28, 1984, survives at home.

Also surviving are: two sons, Ronald K. Gardner and his fiance, Mary Loutzenhiser, both Cochranton; and Donald L. Gardner and his wife Terri, Greenville; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Pamela R.) Milford, Greenville; two stepsons, Kenneth B. Artman and his fiance Nancy, Griffith, Ind.; and Ronald S. Artman, Conneaut Lake; three brothers, William B. Gardner, Drums, Pa.; David Gardner, Clark; and Robert Gardner, Transfer; three sisters, Shirley Voytik, Hiram, Ga.; Mrs. Lester (Emma Jean) Morrison, Greenville; and Mrs. Thomas (Jane) Jeffries, Renton, Va.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Frederick Gardner; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Greer; and a stepson, Michael E. Artman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mercer County Unit of American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon 16146; or American Heart Association, 59 N. Crescent Drive, Hermitage 16148.

was formerly of Grove City

Marion L. Steele, Beavercreek, formerly of Grove City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in Miami Valley Hospital. She was 47.

She is survived by Frank, her loving husband of 23 years; her sons Frank Jr., Michael and Justin "Judd", all Beavercreek; her parents, Paul and Doris White; her sister Dorothy Snedden; and seven nieces, two nephews and other relatives and friends.

Edmund James Little

Ex-Sharpsville man was WE retiree, church deacon

SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. -- Edmund James Little, 218 Newman St., Springville, formerly of Sharpsville, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday (2-7-03) in Bertrand Chaffee Hospital. He was 91.

Mr. Little was born Nov. 9, 1911, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Edmund Scott and Ola Belle Little.

He married Velma F. Filer on Aug. 11, 1933. She preceded him in death Jan. 18, 1994.

He was the beloved father of John, husband of Rae Marie; Richard, husband of Linda Diane; and the late Robert James, husband of Carol Joy.

Mr. Little married the former Dorothy Rose Gantz on Dec. 18, 1997. She survives at home.

He was also the beloved grandfather of four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Charles Little and Wilma Faith Schrecengost.

Mr. Little was a member and former deacon of First Baptist Church of Sharpsville. He retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. after 35 years in the shipping and receiving department.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Hubbard man worked

at Shenango Steel

Albert Raymond Perrotta of 1904 Brookfield Road, Hubbard, died at 7:20 a.m. Thursday (2-13-03) in Glenview Nursing Home. He was 83.

Mr. Perrotta was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Hubbard, a son of James and Margaret Cambridge Perrotta.

He worked for Shenango Steel Co. in Masury for 30 years as a forklift operator.

He enjoyed the outdoors.

His wife, the former Ruth E. Phillips, whom he married in 1950, died in 1998.

Survivors include: a son, Albert R. Perrotta, Marion, Va.; and a daughter, Patricia Ann Parker, Oak Ridge, Mo., both from his first marriage; and a son, Nick Perrotta, Delaware, Ohio; and a daughter, Margaret Hope Sprankle, Austintown, Ohio, both from his second marriage. He also leaves: one brother, Joseph Perrotta; and one sister, Marge Montecalvo, both Hubbard; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Perrotta was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph Perrotta; a brother, Angelo Perrotta; and three sisters, Helen Campoli, Viola Hanak and Lucy Manas.
