Today's obituaries Bradley Keith Albert Bobby Family business co-owner was 1984 Mercer High grad Funeral will be Monday for Bradley Keith Albert Bobby, 1382 Lake Road, Jefferson Township, who died Thursday (10-26-00) at 12:50 p.m. at home from injuries sustained in a construction accident. He was 34. Mr. Bobby was born July 21, 1966 in Sharon, to Keith A. and Janice Besco Bobby. A 1984 alumnus of Mercer High School, he attended the Shenango Campus of Pennsylvania State University, Sharon. Mr. Bobby was president of Aluminum Dock International Corp., Mercer. He was a member of First Assembly of God, Hermitage and attended Fellowship Community Church, Jefferson Township. Mr. Bobby was active in the Young Republicans of Mercer County. He enjoyed spending time with his family and the outdoors. An avid fisherman, hunter and dirt bike enthusiast, Mr. Bobby enjoyed working with his hands and was known for his skills as a woodworker and metalworker. He was always involved in a restoration project. Surviving are: his parents, Keith and Janice Bobby, Mercer; two brothers, Rodney K. Bobby, Mercer and Jeffrey J. Bobby, Hermitage; and a maternal grandmother, Nellie Besco, Mercer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of First Assembly of God Church, 1455 N. BOBBY Ruthie Jo Doyle Lake Township homemaker was 1948 Stoneboro graduate Ruthie Jo Doyle, 332 Lyons Road, Lake Township, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday (10-27-00) in UPMC Horizon Greenville, after a short illness. She was 71. Mrs. Doyle was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Stoneboro, to Walter D. and Ruth M. Shaw Lewis. A 1948 graduate of the former Stoneboro High School, she had worked at the former McClearn Hardware Store, Stoneboro. A homemaker, Mrs. Doyle was Protestant. She enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, traveling and spending time with her sisters. Surviving are: her husband, Donald E. Doyle, whom she married March 10, 1950; a daughter, Mrs. Kevin P. (Dottie) Patterson, Jackson Center; two sons, Dennis D. and Gary E. Doyle, both Jackson Center; five sisters, Marian McConnell, Stoneboro; Betty Burtner, Newton Falls, Ohio; Mrs. Raymond (Martha) Billig, Greenville; Mrs. William E. (Harriet) McClearn, Stoneboro; and Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Brautigam, Mercer; a brother, W. Thomas Lewis, Sandy Lake; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ben Lewis and a grandson, Eric Doyle.
DOYLE Harry F. ‘Butch’ Gilson Harry F. ‘Butch’ Gilson, 78 Beech St., Stoneboro, died Friday (10-27-00) at home. He was 55. Obituary information was incomplete.
GILSON Nathaniel ‘Nate’ C. Hawthorne Retiree was pilot, flying clubs member, had sister in WM BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- Nathaniel "Nate" C. Hawthorne, Johns-town Township, Barrie County, Mich., died at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13, 2000, in Borgess Medical Center. He was 80. Mr. Hawthorne was born April 7, 1920, in Clarksville, Pa., to William W. and Beatrice Hildra Warren Hawthorne Sr. He retired in 1982 after more than 32 years with Clark Equipment’s former site in Battle Creek. An Army veteran, Mr. Hawthorne served during World War II and as a reservist for six years following the war in Fort Custer, Augusta, Mich. The member of 8 Ball Flying Club, Battle Creek; and the Tin Goose Flying Club of Kalamazoo, Mich., he was a pilot since the war and owned a PT-19 airplane. Since 1949, Mr. Hawthorne was a volunteer for American Red Cross; and was a former group leader for the Springfield Explorer Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. He was active in the Springfield Civil Air Defense. He belonged to Clark’s Retiree Club; the National Rifle Association; and Local 939 of the AFL/CIO, Battle Creek. Surviving are: his wife, the former Betty May Allen, whom he married May 19, 1951, in Angola, Ind.; two sons, Charles K., Banfield, Mich.; and Gary, California; a stepson, Herbert W. Lake, Port Clinton, Ohio; a sister, Marian Sweesy, West Middlesex; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Jr.; and a sister, Marjorie Adler. A funeral service was held Oct. 17 in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
H. Calvin ‘Cal’ Hines Retired state inspector was carpenter, WWII veteran Funeral will be Monday for H. Calvin "Cal" Hines, Slippery Rock. He died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday (10-25-00) from injuries sustained in a car crash in Butler County. He was 76. Mr. Hines was born June 27, 1924, in Slippery Rock Township, to John Ross and Mary Studebaker Hines. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of General Services where he worked as an inspector. Mr. Hines also retired from the Carpenter’s Local 500, Butler. He was a World War II US Navy Veteran. Mr. Hines was a member of Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church, Worth Township, where he was a former elder and trustee. He was a member of the local Good Fellows organization, Slippery Rock. Mr. Hines was a member and former fire chief for the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company. He had formerly served as the Democratic committeeman for Slippery Rock. Surviving are: his wife the former, Sarah Ruth Cross, Slippery Rock; a daughter, Mrs. Rod (Candace L.) Boulanger; a son, Mike R. Hines, both of Slippery Rock; a grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
HINES Gerald L. Myers Former GC man was active in Warren church, Masons WARREN, Ohio -- Gerald L. Myers, 318 Hazelwood SE, Warren, formerly of Grove City, died at 10:01 a.m. Thursday (10-26-00) at home. He was 77. Mr. Myers was born June 21, 1923, in Butler to Albert F. and Mary Wolford Myers. A 1950 alumnus of Grove City College, he retired in 1989 as a sales representative for Reuben-Lloyd Co., Youngstown. Mr. Myers was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Carroll F. Clapp Lodge, Warren; Scottish Rite’s Valley of Youngstown; and was a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 295, Warren. As a member of First United Methodist Church, Warren, he was active in the choir and the Men’s Breakfast Club, and served in several official positions including the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. An Army veteran, Mr. Myers served as a sergeant in the Eighth Air Force during World War II. Surviving are: his wife, the former Madelyn B. Black, whom he married June 24, 1949; a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Marsha) Camuso, Plano, Texas; a son, Jeffrey L., Poland, Ohio; and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Lily; and four brothers, Albert C., Donald V., Raymond W. and Robert W. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Trumbull County, 219 N.
