Today's obituaries William Willis 'B.J.' Barris III '95 West Middlesex High grad owned leasing business William Willis "B.J." Barris III of 3509 Sharon Road, West Middlesex passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, June 11, 2002. He was 25. Born Jan. 1, 1977, in Sharon, Mr. Barris was a son of Linda K. Mathews Barris and the late William Willis Barris Jr. He was a 1995 graduate of West Middlesex High School and attended Mercer County Vocational Technical School, where he studied mechanics. For the past three years, he owned and operated B.C.O. Leasing of West Middlesex. Previously he had been employed as a line mechanic at Compass-Falcon Transportation Inc. of Hermitage. B.J. enjoyed drag racing at the Quaker City and Sunset drags, as well as card playing, particularly euchre. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and riding all-terrain vehicles. He was a member of West Middlesex United Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife, the former Tammy L. Wansack, whom he married July 24, 1999; one son, Jesse J. Barris; and one daughter, Cheyenne M. Barris, all at home; his mother, Hermitage; one sister, Courtney Barris, West Middlesex; his paternal grandmother, Arnella (Corry) Barris, West Middlesex; and several aunts, uncles and cousins including John and Roye Ellen Miller, Farrell; Jayne Barris Perilli, West Middlesex; and Suzanne Raddatz, Granite Bay, Calif. In addition to his father, Mr. Barris was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Willis Barris Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Rita Mathews.
BARRIS Lena S. Bochy Lena S. Bochy, White-Cliff Nursing Home, formerly of 448 Mercer Road, both Hempfield Township, died at 10:03 p.m. Wednesday (6-12-02) in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 80. Obituary information was incomplete.
BOCHY Beth Ann Woods Boyle New Wilmington-area woman belonged to Mercer U.M. Beth Ann Woods Boyle, New Wilmington RD 1, Wilmington Township, Lawrence County, died Wednesday morning (6-12-02) in her sleep in her residence. She was 38. Mrs. Boyle was born Nov. 4, 1963, in Grove City to Wayne Woods and Belva Edeburn Woods. For the past year, she was a pre-school teacher at Mercer United Methodist Church and most recently completed training to work at the New Bedford office of Sky Bank. Mrs. Boyle loved her family, as well as attending her children's sporting events. She was a member of Mercer United Methodist Church. Her husband, Steven D. Boyle, whom she married Nov. 13, 1982, survives at the residence. Also surviving are: one daughter, Nikole Ann Boyle; and two sons, Joel Douglas Boyle and Dakota Jacob Boyle, all at home; one brother, Mark Wayne Woods, Hermitage; and her parents, Mercer. Mrs. Boyle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Glenn and Lillian Edeburn; and Paul and Grace Woods; and a sister-in-law, Wendy Woods. BOYLE Charles E. 'Slim' Bugher Hermitage man, WWII Army vet was Sharon Steel retiree A funeral service will be held Saturday for Charles E. "Slim" Bugher of 190 S. Neshannock Road, Hermitage. He passed away at 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in his home. He was 79. Mr. Bugher was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Cambridge, Ohio, a son of the late George Dewey Bugher and Ida Carson Bugher. Mr. Bugher moved to Sharon as a child and attended Sharon schools. He retired in 1985 from the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, after 44 years of service as an electrician. He served as a communication specialist in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific theater of operations. Mr. Bugher was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 810; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, both Hermitage. An outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include: his wife, the former Ruth Ella Whyte, whom he married Sept. 22, 1945; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Patricia) Sadowski, Farrell; and Carole Knight, West Middlesex; two sons, Charles B. Bugher and his wife, Carol, New Castle; and Nelson W. Bugher and his wife, Lanie, Hermitage; two brothers, Norman Bugher and his wife, Betty, Hermitage; and Wesley Bugher and his wife, Della, Sharon; and one sister, Marian Mudrak, Mercer. Also surviving are: six grandchildren, Tammy Thomas; Sandy Nichols, wife of Matthew; Chad Duncan and his wife, Kimberly; and Brad Bugher, Terri Lynn Knight and Dustin Bugher; and eight great-grandchildren. BUGHER Georgianna Jane Morrow Carter Findley Twp. woman had been active in Mercer groups Georgianna Jane Morrow Carter of 820 Mercer-Grove City Road, Findley Township, died at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in Woodland Place, Coolspring Township. She was 84. Mrs. Carter was born May 16, 1918, in Grove City to Frederick John Morrow and Margaret Twitt Morrow. She was a member of Mercer United Methodist Church and was formerly active in a number of ladies' organizations in Mercer. Her husband, Robert E. Carter, died in November 1983. Surviving are: two sons, John Carter and his wife Connie, Mercer; and William G. Carter, Conway, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Jo Carter, Six Mile, S.C., wife of the late Robert G. Carter, the deceased's son; and 10 grandchildren. Besides her husband and her son, Robert, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandra Carter; a granddaughter, Stacey Carter; a brother, Frederick Morrow; and a sister, Betty Szkoala.
CARTER Frances E. Heckman Greenville woman was car dealerships bookkeeper A funeral and committal service will be held Friday for Frances E. Heckman, 204 S. Mercer St., Greenville. She died at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 80. Mrs. Heckman was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Greenville to Thomas Lysle Jr. and Minnie Long Lysle. A graduate of the former Penn High School in Greenville, she was a bookkeeper for many years at Greenville Motors and Stevenson Motors, Greenville. Mrs. Heckman was a former member of Zion's Reformed United Church of Christ, Greenville; and belonged to the Women's Auxiliary unit of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374, Hempfield Township. Surviving are: her husband, Edward L. Heckman, whom she married July 18, 1953; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Susan) McGinley and Mrs. Curtis (Dona) Kline, both Murrysville, Pa.; and Mary Lou Heckman, Folsom, Calif.; a brother, Guy "Shorty" Lysle, Greenville; and three grandchildren, Jed P. Moyer, Brandon L. Kline and Adam H. Hope. Mrs. Heckman was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Helen Lysle; and two brothers, Parker and Robert Lysle. HECKMAN E. Mark Michetti Fowler man owned home business, was Scout leader FOWLER -- E. Mark Michetti of 2357 Warner Road, Fowler, died at 2 p.m. Monday (6-10-02) in his home after an extended illness. He was 54. Mr. Michetti was born Nov. 3, 1947, in Ambridge to Marino and Yvonne Getty Michetti. Mark served with the U.S. Navy from 1965-68 and was an adult instructor at the Trumbull County Technical Career Center and New Castle School of Trades. He owned and operated Cardinal Services from his home in Fowler for more than 20 years as a general contractor and licensed real estate broker. Mr. Michetti volunteered his time as a unit commissioner for Boy Scouts of America and was also a chairman of the Pinewood Derby for many years. He was a member of the American Legion, Howland; and Trumbull County Democrat Jefferson Club. He was also a great supporter of Mathews schools and sports programs. Survivors include: his wife, the former Catherine M. Ochman, whom he married Sept. 6, 1969, at home; his father, Marino, Florida; two sons, Marc A. Michetti and his wife, Wendy, Sharpsville; and Michael J. Michetti and his fiance, Shannan Harris, both Hermitage; two daughters, Jennifer L. Michetti, at home; and Mary Jo Earl and her husband Ron, Washington, Pa.; a sister, Michelle Ott, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Melody, Katelyn, Zachary and Mark D.; and a nephew, Michael. Mr. Michetti was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne; and his half brother, Walter. Memorial contributions may be made to his family, since Mr. Michetti did not have life insurance.
MICHETTI Elva A. Mudrey Sharon woman had worked at Daffin's, ex-Sharon market Elva A. Mudrey, 242 Lincoln St., Sharon, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday (6-11-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 83. Mrs. Mudrey was born Nov. 24, 1918, in Sharon to Thomas P. and Anna M. Hug Glaser. She attended Sharon schools and was a part-time clerk for more than 10 years at Daffin's Candies, Sharon. Mrs. Mudrey previously worked for the former Marshal's Grocery Store in Sharon. Mrs. Mudrey attended First Baptist Church in Sharon. Her husband, John Mudrey Jr., whom she married Feb. 27, 1940, died Jan. 19, 1991. Surviving are: a daughter, Joan M. Mudrey, Sharon; three sons, Thomas L. Mudrey, Brookfield; James E. Mudrey, Ormond Beach, Fla.; and Keith A. Mudrey, Hermitage; two sisters, Mrs. John (Doris M.) Parkany, Sharon; and Bonnie L. Latcheran, Lititz, Pa.; three brothers, Edward Glaser, Brookfield; Thomas Glaser, Pittsburgh; and Wayne Glaser, Mercer; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Mudrey was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eileen Murphy; and two brothers, Elmer Glaser and John Glaser. SUTTLES David L. Snyderwine Erie man had relatives in the Shenango Valley HARMONY TOWNSHIP, BEA-VER COUNTY -- David L. Snyderwine of 1705 W. 30th St., Erie, died in an accidental drowning on the Ohio River Friday, May 31, 2002. He was 45. Mr. Snyderwine was born Sept. 23, 1956, in Erie, a son of Robert and Mary Ann Maistros Snyderwine. They survive in Erie. He attended Our Lady of Peace and Grover Cleveland Elementary schools and Roosevelt Middle School. Mr. Snyderwine graduated in 1974 from Strong Vincent High School, where he was a wrestler. While at Grover Cleveland, he was active with Boy Scout Troop 25. Mr. Snyderwine worked as a tanker man for the New Orleans-based Adams Land & Marine Co., and had more than 20 years of experience in the industry. He was also active with Alcoholics Anonymous. Beside his parents, survivors include: three sisters, Marie Ore and her husband, Thomas, Cedar Falls, Iowa; Elizabeth Snyderwine, Dusseldorf, Germany; and Martha Snyderwine, Arlington, Va.; three brothers, Paul Snyderwine and his wife, Patricia, Charlestown, S.C.; Robert Snyderwine and his wife, Carol, Painesville, Ohio; and John Snyderwine, Erie; his fraternal grandmother, Evangeline Hoagland Snyderwine, Erie; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Snyderwine leaves many relatives in the Shenango Valley. Calling hours were held in Erie from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (6-7-02) and a prayer service was held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (6-8-02). A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Luke Catholic Church, Erie, with Monsignor Thomas Snyderwine, pastor and the deceased's uncle, as celebrant. Friends are invited to attend a chapel service at 11 a.m. Friday (6-14-02) in St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage, with Monsignor Thomas Snyderwine officiating. Burial will take place in St. Rose Cemetery. Patricia J. Thornton Hubbard homemaker served in Corner House church Patricia J. Thornton of Hubbard died at 3:32 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 71. Mrs. Thornton was born Dec. 24, 1930, in Sharon, a daughter of Ivan R. and LaVerne Bentley Taylor. She lived in Hubbard since 1966, coming from Sharon. A homemaker, Mrs. Thornton was an active member of Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard Township, where she formerly served as a director and member of the choir, youth leader and Bible school and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed golf, reading, square dancing and singing. Mrs. Thornton was a 1949 graduate of Sharon High School. She leaves: her husband, Martin E. Thornton, whom she married Dec. 17, 1949, at home; two sons, Martin E. Thornton II and his wife Suzanne, New Castle; and Kevin R. Thornton, Hubbard; two daughters, Roxann Shelenberger, New Castle; and Heather S. Phibbs and her husband James, Corona, Calif.; four grandchildren, Heidi, Luke, Bradley and Samantha; and a great-grandson, Samuel. Mrs. Thornton's parents and a sister, June E. Taylor, are deceased.
